Question about Kicking...

Hi, everyone!

I'm 20 weeks and a couple of days along. For the past couple of weeks, I've been able to feel my baby girl kicking up a storm... especially right after breakfast, and then at night when I lay down. Last week, she was super active for a couple of days.

Well, all this weekend and then today, I haven't felt her at all. Is this normal? It's my first pregnancy so I'm a little freaked out.

Thanks!

She probably is just turned a different way. We feel kicks less or more based on their trajectory. Drink something sugary or eat something and lay on your side.... if still nothing after an hour I would call your Dr. just to be safe.

They don't even have you do kick counts until you are 28 weeks. Very normal for you to not feel her all the time at 20 weeks. :)

Last week I went through the same feelings that you are going through now. I know he is only about 12in long and about a pound so i figure he's probably just turned a bit different on the days I can't feel him. I always drink something cold to get him moving again and it always works.  I can also tell where he's at in my abdomen too by the "bump" that sticks out a little farther than the rest of my belly. I know that when the "bump" shifts spots that he is "settling in" again. I read that they have plenty of room at this size and tend to move from place to place a lot. Unfortunately I think sometimes its on my spine and I can't feel him.

Keep us posted. I bet he's just playing hard to get!

I still have days where my baby is super active and then he moves and I feel him in another part of my body. Sometimes he is just more sleepy I think thats when they are growing a lot. Give it a few more weeks and like Jackie said the movements will get stronger.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions and comments! I'm going to go into sugar shock because I've been drinking and eating sweet stuff all day, trying to get her to move! LOL! I think I felt a flutter, but I'm not sure? Anyway. I'm trying to be rational about it and hope that she's just positioned differently. If I don't feel anything in the next day or two, I'll probably put a call in to my OB because she WAS really active last week!

I have been feeling my baby move around!! I hear what you mean there are some days the baby is active and others the baby is not. Almost feel pregnant sumdays and then not pregnant the next.  Normally I feel the baby move around after I eat something!! Feels weird to me and almost feels like a big gas bubble moving side to side in my belly. At first when i felt the baby move it tickled. Now still sometimes I do not feel the baby move and then all of a sudden I do it tickles..feels so weird.

I noticed that when my baby was calm for a day or so, there seemed to be a big growth spurt. Of course I'd freak out too, thinking something was wrong with him. But I'm renting a fetal heart doppler from babysheart.com so I could always listen to the heart beat if I got too concerned.

Also, something else that worked sometimes for me was to kind of poke my baby to see if he'd kick back. Sometimes it worked.

I also had a time when I'm pretty sure he was turned so that he was kicking towards my back and it just felt like some odd gastric movements....Have a lot of those since RNY...

Don't freak out!!
Take care

It is perfectly normal to feel baby and then not feel baby for a while. They are just like us and have up days and down days. I am 29 weeks pregnant and yesterday didn't feel my little man much at all and I know it was because I wasn't feeling well. Now today he's as active as can be. In a few weeks you will be feeling the baby move more and more and it will be more prominent. Don't worry there is nothing wrong. Good luck!
