it's a little early but...Poll

I am already thinking about Sage's first birthday.  LOL I know I am silly but I love throwing and planning parties. 

What did everyone do for their children's first birthday??

We are going to be getting a big tax refund right before her birthday and we want to make it a special day even though she will never remember it.  I can't do it at my house, it's way too small.  I could always use my moms house, but it's in april so the weather will be iffy.

Looking for all ideas!!

Just wanted to say what a beautiful picture!!!!!!!!!

We did Peter Piper Pizza. There were a few games he could play...there was even a small train he could ride.
You can either do a party package or just show up early and yank a few tables (no charge).
He loved it. I bought cheap sippy cups and used stickers from scrapbooking and put each kids names on them so they had something to take home.

It's also cheaper and less scary than an oversized Rat (chuck-e-cheese).   LOL

For his 2nd birthday, we went to the park and decorated tshirts, cake and juice outdoors so no worries about messes...and the playground was there for entertainment....

Who will you be inviting? Do you have a bunch of little kids in your family? Do you have a yard? If so, maybe get a big tent put up and rent some tables & chairs and have a BBQ, and get one of those jumpolenes. My daughters birthday is in the winter so I was ususally stuck renting out a place or cramping everyone inside. I never really liked having it anywhere else though because it is time restricted, plus you have to cart all the food there and it just ends up being aggravating. Thats why I am thrilled this one will be a summer baby. Tents, bbq's bonfires...sooo looking foward to it.

For my twins, we did a cupcake theme (invites, decorations, etc). I made several types of cupcakes for the guests and had special "smash cupcakes" for each of my girls to destroy/eat.

We had it at our house since we have a lot of room and a covered patio if the weather turned bad. I found a ton of cute decorations online at the Oriental Trading company. They had lots of 1st birthday themed items.

We also BBQ'd for the adults (Daddy even had a keg) and had toys out for the kids. Overall, it's better to go low-key for the first birthday, a 1 yr old is easily overwhelmed with all the activity and may get cranky.

we rented a pavillion.. had a bounce house.. 50 some odd people.. bbq... will be doing the same for jaylyn... execpt a petting zoo over the bounce house

We rented the party deck at the BlueClaw's stadium, it wasn't cheap but it was awsome! They do everything, right down the cake! We got to get in early before the baseball game started, had access to the bar and had the private deck to ourselves, the food was amazing and the kids and adults all had a blast. We had about 60 people.

Oriental Trading does great deals on party supplies. The dollar store at the corner of Rte 611 and Bristol Road is awesome too.
