I am sickkkkk and tired of leaky bottle that give Sage gas.  We've tried almost everything.  Usually they start out ok then start leaking.  The only ones that don't leave are walmarts parents choice ones, but they give her a lot of gas.  Right now we are using evenflo purly comfi which I liked a lot at first but then started leaking, not as bad as other but I can't stand it.  I also have one soothie brand bottles which are pretty good and don't leak but the nipple is shaped really dumb and sometimes Sage doesn't want it.

The consensus is either Dr. Browns or Born Free.  I am leaning more towards born free.  What is everyones thoughts?  I've also tried avent, munckin (glass bottles), nuk, gerber ect.  I was also considering Playtex airvent.  Any thoughts on them.  And I don't do drop in's.

Also, Sage is a clinger recently.  I have an infantano carrier which I like but It's pretty hot to wear and Sage and I both get sweaty when I wear it.  I am considering a moby sling.  Any thoughts on them?  They look really neat!

Thanks ladies

You never tried drop in's? I went out and bought those ****s at 3am because I was desperate. Maybe you can just buy one and try it? Loved the way the air squeezes out. My cousin had the playtex vent air and they seem to be a pain to clean, so dunno if they helped, lol.

Dr. Browns, they were the only thing that helped with my son's gas.  Once I bought one, I went back for 10!

Its amazing that I'm having the exact same problem with Jakob. My sister said that its happening because I have been heating the bottles too hot and the top grooves get warped and the top doesn't tighten enough anymore. (Mind you she told me this after I've thrown away about 6-8 bottles those were the nicely shaped Evenflo bottles to prevent gas)

So now I am only steaming the bottles to sterilize them for a short time on the stovetop and not using the microwaveable steamer bags any longer. (boy were they quicker and a lot less work...but if they destroy the bottle how much more helpful are they really)

I too have dr. browns..I don't like all the little pieces you have to clean to put them together, etc.

I have the new Gerber for colic control to prevent gas...Only thing I don't like is the holes aren't big enough and I have to learn how to open them more without ruining them (making them as wide as a sippy cup.)

I have the bags but like you, I hate that bagging my babies milk idea, don't know what that's all about. They work though I think I have issues with their nipple holes too. Hopefully we get some more ideas from others here. I hate that I have to give up the micro-steamers they were such a neat idea.

I used Born Free, and I was pretty happy with them. They aren't 100% leak proof, but the leaks I did have were just a few drops here and there.

Dr. Browns all the way, they are a pain to clean but after having my first baby have colic for months it was so worth it with my second. They did not have them 11 years ago with her but if they did I would have cleaned 100 parts to help her with fussiness and spitting up.

I can't really help on the bottles, but I can help with the sling. You do NOT want to get a moby now, they really are only good until baby is about 5 months old and then they are just a pain.

I personally like an unpadded ring sling in a light material like cotton or gauze(google Maya Wrap), but I always warn people that they have a learning curve and it takes alot of trial and error to get it right, comfortable and pain free (if you feel pain or discomfort then you have it on wrong!). The upside is that it can be used for years! I wore my son Nate until he was almost four years old.

You can try a Mei Tei, but they can be tricky if you have bigger shoulders or big boobs, they are good and sturdy and can be used as a front or back carry position, they aren't cheap, but you will get good use out of it, especially if you have another baby.

You could also try an unpadded peanut shell sling, I don't like them b/c you can't adjust them and I had a hard time finding one that fit me right.

Check out thebabywearer.com, they have lots of good, honest reviews and pictures.

Dr. Browns... the parts aren't that bad to clean, you can just toss them in the dishwasher and it's fine.  If you mix formula with powder though, you really shouldn't mix it with the bulb part in there because the powder gets caught in there, plus it creates a bunch of bubbles which defeats the purpose of having them.  I usually mixed up a rubbermaid container of formula in the morning, enough for the day, then filled the bottles from there.  If I needed to mix powder while we were out and about, I'd put the bottle together without the bulb part, but you had to use the little rubber piece that it fits into otherwise if you shook it the bottle leaked.  I tried not to really shake it up alot, more like swirl and swi**** around.  Then when it was mixed I put the bulb part back in.  These bottles made a night & day difference with my son, money well spent.
