Weight gained vs. baby weight?

I didn't gain much throughout my pregnancy... probably only 7-10lbs up until the last month or so when I started retaining water like crazy.

My little girl was 6lbs at birth and she was a week late. She was overall healthy but she's STILL small (4.5 months old weighing about 10.5-11lbs).

I can't help but wonder if my lack of weight gain had anything to do with it. Maybe I wasn't eating enough or something. I feel guilty.

Would you ladies mind sharing your pregnancy weight gain vs. your newborn's weight?

TIA!

i would say prob  not.  I gained 50lbs and Sage was tiny only 6lbs and was born on her DD.  I think some people just have small babies

I've gained 14 lbs and I'm 27 weeks Thursday. I know quite a few people that didn't gain much and still had 7 and 8 lb babies. I'm also on bedrest and my gbs surgeon wanted me to gain 20-25lbs for sure since I started smaller and I have issues with eating stuff sometimes.

I gained only 10lbs my whole pregnancy and had a 6lb 4oz baby girl 5 days early. My husband was also only 6lb 4oz and birth, so I dont think my weight gain had anything to do with her weight at all!

1st pregnancy-gained 14 pounds/  had her 2 weeks early / weighed 6 pds 13 oz
2nd pregnancy-gained 2 pounds/ had him 1 week early / weighed 7 pds 6 oz.

So, I don't think it has anything to do with it.  BTW, my little man was 26 pounds by 8 months!

I just think it is your body's way of reacting to the pregnancy.

Gained 2 lbs and Matthew was 2 weeks early weighed 6lbs 10 oz..  At his 18 month check up today he was 25lbs 11oz....right in the 50%....he's always been 50% for every check up.  I don't think the amount of weight gained has anything to do with the weight of the baby or the weight the baby will gain.

Imagine some women gaining 50 lbs they sure aren't going to have a 50 lbs newborn.  I think you're LO's weight is fine.
