Tips for Gender Ultrasound?

I go in for mine today at 6pm... so excited! However, my baby is usually most active in the morning, so I was wondering if there's anything I can do to perk him/her up? LOL

Someone said that drinking orange juice worked for them. I was thinking about getting a venti caramel macchiato from Starbucks. (Just kidding.)

Any tips? Should I drink a ton of water? Will it matter? Does it make a difference?

Thanks!!

I've also heard that drinking juice helps them move, however, don't drink too much!  Your bladder needs to be full, but if it's so full that you're dying, the whole experience can stink.  Drink enough that you need to use the bathroom, but not so much that you're really uncomfortable.

Good luck.  I hope your baby shows you the goods!

Thanks for the tip! I'm kind of like a camel right now... I drink and drink all day, and I only have to pee two or three times. I just never feel "the urge" like a lot of pregnant women. I'm not sure if it's because of the position of the baby or what... but I'm not complaining.

At that point I couldn't feel movement but I know the kid was moving from seeing the ultrasounds. I know anything cold make*****in move. I drink too much ice water (cause anything less than ice cold makes me sick yet) the kid is all over the place.

Good luck with it and if all else fails, pray they can't get all the measurements so you have to go back if they don't get a good pics of the goods. If I wasn't going to be going in monthly, I would have had to go back since they didn't get all the heart pics they wanted/needed.

My ultrasound isn't covered by my insurance, so I'm paying out of pocket for a 3-D one at one of those boutique places. They don't do measurements because it's strictly for fun and not medical purposes. Thankfully, they will do another session for free if my baby is modest today.

Mandy, check with your OB and see if their ultrasound tech can include the 3d/4d in with your later u/s b/c with ours if we have a 3d/4d u/s done at either our 32 or 34 wks visit, we only have to pay $25 extra for the 3d/4d.  What kind of insurance do you have?  Good luck and I did not know how to prepare so I ate breakfast and went to starbucks before the u/s and baby did just fine.

Best of luck and have fun!!

Thanks! I think I get another one later on that's included in my insurance (Anthem Blue Cross). I think the standard is 12 weeks, and then 28 weeks, or something like that. My OB's office does not have 3D, they only have the standard 2D. We're impatient so we just decided to pay out of pocket so we could find out sooner.

People may yell at me for this, but bring a small sugar free red bull. Drink maybe half before you go in the room, and the rest if you still want the baby to move around. There are quite a few vitamins in red bull along with the caffiene. I just would be personally devastated after waiting 20 weeks and have the baby in an un-cooperable position lol.
