I really hope someone out there has an answer or two for me. I had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy 15 months ago and am currently 6 weeks pregnant. My fiancée and I are through the roof happy, but we are very worried about my diet.

I lost the weight very rapidly, (200 pounds in the 15 months.) And I am having a horrible time finding a diet plan that gets all my needed daily nutrition in portions I can actually eat.

I can no longer see my bariatic doctor or my nutritionist and my current (and possibly temporary) OB is extremely busy and hasn't been able to help me with this. Does anyone know a good website with a suitable diet plan or have one themselves that they would be willing to post/email me??

Me, my fiancée, and our mini-me would be extremely grateful!!!

Thanks!!!

Since you did not have a malabsorbtive procedure, don't worry too much. Here are some things I have been trying to eat more of, that seem to be gentle on the stomach. Remember too that you need to have at least 100 grams of complex carbs a day, ketosis is bad for baby.

scrambled egg (tons of protien)
blueberries (antioxidants)
steamed carrots or other fresh veggies (vitamin A, iron +folic acid)
Half a banana (potassium)
chunk light tuna fish (omega 3 + protien)

Of course, take your vitamins! Chicken I think is the best source of protien. Not much fat...if you can tolerate it, try to add it in as much as possible. Lean ground beef is also good for protien, but get the 85 or 93 % lean. Light and fit yogurts are good too. There is a book called "Eating well when you are expecting" from the "What to Expect" line. I'm sure the ladies here will give you some great hints :)

Oh, and forgot to add low-fat cottage cheese, excellent calcium and protien :)

You definitely want to keep up on the proteins bu be sure to add in complex carbs like fruits and veggies and even breads too since baby needs those. If you can tolerate milk, up that too and then if not up your calcium supplements. As for the amount of food you're eating make sure you eat something every few hours to not only keep your blood sugars stable but it'll also let you get in extra calories as well. My OB wanted me at 2000cal a day when I was at like...1/2 that. But although I didn't get to the 2000cal I was close averaging 1600-1800. You can track calories on a website like fitday or something like that. I also took 2x the prenatal vitamins to make up the difference.

Good luck and congrats!!
