Should I just take the stupid 3 hr glucose? Advice please????

My doc allowed me to take my glucose test finger poke style rather than the 3 hr glucose, but now I'm wondering if I should just take it. I've been getting high fasting numbers and normal numbers after eating. My doc isn't sure if it's GD without the 3hr, but put me on Glyburide in the evenings to level out those numbers. I just looked at some of the info on possible side effects to my LO and it is scary. Should I just  take the darn 3hr and hope I don't pass out from the 100g sugar drink or should I keep taking this scary med? I seem to be at a point where everything I do could hurt my  baby and I'm super scared.
Advice please???

I would say NO....have them draw a Hemaglobin H1C that will give you an indication of what your sugars run. I wouldn't chance making yourself sick. Just keep a good check on it and watch what your eating. Hope that helps.

Hey there! I'm with the above poster...have your doc due your blood labs first thing in the morning with fasting. My drs wont make me take the glucose test because of me being a post-op bypass patient. Sugar hasn't really affected me since I had the surgery and had only a few minor issues with sugars, but my dr is going to do what she called an early glucose screening at my next appointment in less than 2 weeks. I have to fast and then if that's abnormal she says well go from there, but she said the blood work would be a more accurate way of getting my sugar numbers versus the finger poke method. Hang in there and see if your dr can do that for you and go from there hun. Best of luck and hopefully everything works out!

Being you had RNY, I would put my foot down and say no.

I wouldn't take the 3 hour test. Also to try to help your morning numbers try eating some protein and carbs before you go to bed. I have a friend that did that (not a WLS patient tho) and that worked for her. She ended up not needing meds since she was worried about the one they gave her..

I agree with the other posters. There is a good reason for us NOT to take it. It can be dangerous and make you really ill!

DO NOT DRINK THE GLUCOSE.
My OB knows I had the GBS,
so they let me just fast, come in draw blood, eat a normal meal, wait 2 hrs then come back to draw more blood.
They said it was the safest way!
