For those who have been under fertility treatment
As you know I am undergoing fertility treatment... I am starting today with Femara round 3. Hubby and I are hoping that round 3 will be the lucky one... if not, we have to see the Dr on the 29th to see what is the next course of action. I am hoping he'll give me another try... originally hubby and I understood he does it for 4 cycles.
When we went for the results of the tests that I was so shocked by the results that I can't even remember what was my problem.. I am guessing maybe not enough ovulation... However, he was not optimistic about IVF (not sure why). I was still stunned by the results and that basically my only choice to try to become a mom was 4 tries on the treatment I am on.
I was just curious what other names of fertility drugs have you been under that have worked for you.
Currently my treatment is: Femara days 3-7, Follistim 150 IU days 5, 7, 9 (last round also day 11 and 12), then Ovidrel double the dosage (2 injections).
Are there any other drugs that have been successful for you?
Hubby and I had relations on the days they told us.. the day of Ovidrel, next 2 nights and last time we did it every night for 6 days or so... just in case, since I don't seem to be "normal"... given that I have PCOS in the past.
I did the pillow under my hips with my feet up for like 20 mins...
Have done a lot of praying... trying to keep positive..
First time around I had 2 follicles, last time I had 4 but this time they did say I had 1 very good size... does every time that you take the meds, do you get more follicles??
I am curious...
Thank you....

Maelena~ First let me say that I am keeping you in prayer. This is a tough road no matter what the reason. I was wondering though if your husbands sperm were tested for count and mobility and also why they are not doing IUI with your treatment?? Just curious...seems like your doc is very proactive...but could be more so??
Also, each cycle you could produce a different amount of follicles, it is not progressively a higher number each month. And when they say you have a certain amount of good follies it doesn't mean that they all rupture. The only way to really know how many follies put out eggs is to do a scan post Ovulation to see if the follies busted or started to just get smaller. In a normal cycle we grow several follies and the biggest one usually bursts. When you get meds the hope is that you will have more follies release eggs increasing your chances.
I am glad you are posting for support.
Some days it was this board alone that kept me sane and down to earth. Shari

Are you going to an RE or your OB/GYN? If you aren't going to an RE, you should switch.
I have never heard of a doctor who would think you have better odds with injectables and timed intercourse over IUI or IVF. If I am spending the money on injectables, I would demand at least an IUI after triggering. If you have hostile CM or something is preventing swimmer from getting to your eggs, timed intercourse will not work.
Every woman's best chance is with IVF, period. Based on that, you should seek a second opinion. Even if hubs has swimmer issues, technology gets around that with IVF. Also, they can also diagnose egg issues with these types of cycles.
Good luck.

Yes I did the injectables but they went with the IUI we did two IUI cycles and skipped the third and went to IVF which was successful the first time. Not sure why that wouldn't work for you. It doesn't make sense to me, but I'm no doctor. Just out of curiosity I would ask them to make you understand why IUI or IVF won't work for you and please let me know. It seems like a perfect solution to most infertility issues.
336lbs 6/19/06 - 198 lbs - 6/19/10 138 lbs gone forever!!!
We have our miracle: Jakob Makhi born 4-15-10; 4 lbs. 10 oz. 22" long.
Look into the herb Evening Primrose Oil. It is supposed to regulate menstrual cycles, ovulation, and cervical mucus quality. They sell it in softgels. It has other good benefits too, and maybe it will help you? A bottle is only like $6.00 so it can't hurt to try it! Other than that, just want to say good luck!
