40+ Week Appointment
Just an update......
My OB was out of town, so I saw another OB today. I am 40 weeks and 2 days today. My BP was good and the baby's heartrate looked good on the nonstress test. So, she comes into the room and wants to know why they haven't induced me yet........the previous issues with BP, the possible gestational diabetes ( couldn't do the glucola test and my sugar has been out of whack), and some swelling. I told her I was only the patient, not the doctor so I didn't know.
She pulled up my chart on the computer looked at previous US, appointments and bloodwork.....then she asks me if I want to wait out the week and see what happens. I asked her if the baby, or I, was in danger medically and she said by everything she saw (including Monday's hospital admission) she was 99% sure that waiting wouldn't be an issue.
Then I asked about being induced over just scheduling a C-section. She said we could make that decision next week at my appointment. She said 90% of inductions result in a C-section. She also told me, after examining me, that I could be one of those women that just doesn't go into labor. She has worked with high risk patients for 15 years and has seen 80-85% of her patients not spontaneously go into labor. She said some women's bodies just don't.......
So......I am still not dialated, no contractions, no mucus plug and no water breakage. The baby is good, with plenty of room for growth, and she will do another US on Monday to make sure my fluid levels are still OK. After that, we will discuss all of my options and maybe have a baby next week.
So, I will just sit and wait!
