The issue is the baby can implant in the cervix or it can grow into the bladder if healing time is not allowed.

I will wait at least 6 months before starting to try. It may take me a while anyway.

just wondering after having the baby how long it took for you to get your periods back? My little girl is almost 15 weeks and we want to try again. I just stopped breastfeeding and am hoping it happens in the next 3 months....know of any good ways to help push things along without yet having a period?

My first c-section was in 2005 my 2nd c-section 2007 and I will be having another c-section in 2011. I didn't find it any harder to recuperate the 2nd time it was just harder because I had a toddler and newborn.

My second was 4 years later and was WAY easier than the first C section. The 2nd one was planned and went so smoothly. The first one, I went through labor and pushing just to have the baby get stuck and then got the C section. I chose the scheduled repeat C section because I didn't want to go through all the labor and pushing again and risk getting stuck which would just end up with another C section. My doctor advised to wait a year before getting pregnant again.

Had my first in July 08, 2nd Nov 09 (they are almost 16 months apart).  As far as the incision- they second one took a tad longer, but nothing drastic.  Pain wise I think the second was a lot easier.  I only took Tylenol while in the hospital with them both...since I live with an addict and have to secretly have any pain meds (and have them locked).  I remember the first time I needed vicodin to sleep at night maybe 3 times.  Oh- and I had staples the first time, and internal & dissolving the second.  The staples freaked me out because I was scared to death they would get stuck in the mesh hospital undies.  I would love to have a 3rd- but I am trying to get my weight under better control AND get advise about my back.  (I had back surgery after complications from my c-section from daughter #2).  Just don't every let them try to give you a spinal 5-10 times.

My kids are 18 months apart, so I was pg about 10 months out from firt c. I had a lot of complications with both c's because of my pani....but mine is the rare situation. I am sure if you wait at least 6 months to start trying you will be okay. It takes the baby awhile to start really growing enough to put pressure on that incision. Like Amy said though...you have to be aware that you can't pick up a toddler for 6 weeks or so, so you will need help at least for the first few weeks.

I know you didn't ask, but having 2 so close together is tough. If you ever want to go there, I have lots of stories to tell. :/ I love my kids, but you better be sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Shari
