washing clothes?
My pediatrition said we could use what detergent we are using unless the baby gets a reaction. If that happens then we go to the "free" stuff. No dyes or perfumes. Then Dreft as a last resort. Because we are using our the same detergent hubby and I figured we could wash everything together. His Mom said we had to wa**** all separate. My family doesn't see a problem with doing it together. What do you think? Is it ok to wa**** all in one big load or do we have to do little loads for Punkin's clothes? Oh and the MIL could only tell us it's not done that way as the reason why we couldn't.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I will tell you this...you will not want to wash punkin's clothes with yours!! Not for a few months anyway. They will most likely be drenched in drool, spit up and poop. I would do babys loads seperate for a few months, use a free & clear detergent for a few weeks. I never liked dreft or ivory snow because it never got the clothes clean & left them smelly.
I wash everything together, and have since the triplets where little. The only thing I do seperate is diapers b/c they have their own special wash routine. I use All F&C for everything, including bedding, diapers and towels. There really isn't any reason to waste the water and electricity by doing smaller loads.
I was told the same thing by my ped. However, I love the smell of Dreft and I'm sorry but my "dirty" stuff and hubbies "dirty" stuff are two variations of dirty that even in the wash I wouldn't want to combine with my baby's. My sister told me she does it because even though the clothes don't have to be separate the same reason you sterilize bottles is the reason you separate the clothes. Lessen chances of germs and things that we fight off regularly but baby isnt so equipped to do. I'm not convinced its nothing more than a tradition, but it appears to be one I like. My washer has a energy save setting that only supplies the water, etc. based on how many clothes are in the machine so, I don't think I'm using much more in the form of energy since a lot of his things I hang on the line to dry or only dry for a few minutes then hang it seems to equal out.
Hope things work out.
