Ok all you great Mom's out there, I have a question! During the day when your baby naps after feedings, do you put them in their crib some? I just wasn't sure if it is ok to put them in the swing or bouncy seat. I don't want to start a bad habit but also don't want him to be in his crib any more than he should be.

Thanks for any advice/guidance.

Hi,

At three weeks I would let my children sleep in the swing, it did make the trasition to napping in the crib harder. My 7 month old naps in her crib now with out problems, it took about a week to transition her.  Follow your instincts and it will work out.

When my son first came home from the hospital I would let him sleep wherever he wanted. Itried not to keep him in the swing all day, but he would sleep in the bouncy seat, then the swing,  then the floor, Everywhere. lol

Yeah, it's not a bad thing to sleep in the crib, may as well get used to it now rather when he outgrows the little baby gear.

Sleeping in the crib for naps is a good idea at this stage.  Helps set them up for the regularity and hopefully , baby will continue to nap well in the crib.  The constant motion of the swing is great to baby, but not realistic to continue as she gets older....  Just my 2 cents.  My first we put in the bassinette or crib for naps (not to say she didn't sometimes fall asleep in the swing or bouncy seat).  She continued to be a great napper.  My son was allowed to nap in the swing or bouncy seat all the time and never turned into a good napper.

All that said, just do what you think is best for you and your little one!

If he naps well in his crib, I say start him now.  We're trying to get Ruby to take her naps in her crib now and it's been difficult to transition her.  She's so used to being held while she naps or napping in her little rocker that she wakes up when we put her down in the crib.  She does fine in the crib at night but it's hard to do during the day.

Quinten slept in his swing until he was 6 months old!! Personally I like it because I was able to get him, and Paige, on a schedule and sleeping longer using the swing. At 4 months he was sleeping 8 hours at night straight and by 6 months 11 hours straight. I used the swing for naps too so I was able to get them in a nap schedule - once the schedule was set I moved the swing to their rooms, then swung it lower, and lower, until they napped when it was off. Then I put them in the crib for naps and swing for night -- then crib for both, transition took 2.5 months but I have an almost 9 month old who sleep 11-12 hours straight at night, 2.5 hour morning nap, and a 50 minute evening nap :).

Hey there , I totally agree with all the PP. I let Lydia sleep wherever I could ... bouncy seat, swing, and in her crib, but she preferred to be swaddled in that case. Good luck!
