uh oh
Well im only 2 months post op and the last few days iv been feeling like im preg. I have had tender breast and my scars are hurting a little like something is pulling. I know how important it was to not get preg right now sence its soo soon after my surgery so my husband and i have only done the deed 2 times. I was waiting to get the IUD or whatever its called till this coming week. I was told to wait til i was healed a little bit. Anyway I dont know what to do if i am preg. Im out to get a test today so we will see what the result it. What happens with my sleeve? is it going to change my chance of losing the weight later on?
Don't borrow worries yet...take the test and see what it says.
If it is positive (hopefully it's not!), I'm sure you and baby will be fine, though it will require extra diligence on your behalf of making sure you're eating enough of the right foods...taking your vits, doing extra labs to make sure you vits are OK, etc. I don't know much about the sleeve, but have heard that early pregnancy can slow down your weight lose - ie make it more difficult - but not impossible - to reach goal...but you will likely still lose quite a bit.
Remember...if it's positive, the baby will get what s/he needs, even if it means sucking every bit of it from you...it's YOU who will suffer the consequences (but make sure you do NOT go into ketosis - eat good carbs regularly...that can affect the baby) and may be faced with pretty severe vit deficienies. You will miss out on the nutrition your body needs, on the vits your body needs, etc. Most women seem to be OK - though they struggle to eat/drink enough - with early out pregnancies, but there are those out here who suffer severe deficiencies that end up requiring iron transfusions, or they end up with rickets due to lack of vit D. I don't know if that's the case with the sleeve though.
I'm not trying to scare you...just telling you what I've seen on here. With the proper care and follow up - and hard work on your part - you should be fine. The earlier you catch a deficiency (thus the extra lab work), the quicker you can head it off at the pass.
Good luck. Let us know what the test says.
