If it aint one thing... (rant)
First i'm dealing with a broken (we assume) blood monitor giving me wonky numbers during my home glucose test and stressing me out, and now...
I'm high risk and have been on medical for 5.5 mos happily getting care from my ob as well as extra visits to a high risk doc for u/s and nst tests to ensure everything is ok. Now without telling me and for no reason I can discern at nearly 31 weeks they transfer me to IEHP who promptly denies all my high risk visits including follow up because of "no medical need"!
What, isn't having a preemie and recorded contractions during a few nst tests enough to qualify. What do i have to do? Come in to the IEHP office with the baby coming out to prove I need extra care? Now I'm scared that they won't cover my pergesterone shots when I need more in three weeks and they say when you stop them you can go into labor within the week. UGH~! This has not been my day, and I do not need all this stress!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm breathing deep now.
Thanks for listening

what is iehp? how is your cervix? i also had a preemie... i was followed close...until about 34 weeks.. when they baby would have been more then viable.. i did some reasearch on the shots ( i was going to get them with my 2nd) and i found out that its a 50/50 type thing if they work or not... so i chose the "wait and see" type thing.. i was also having daily sets of contractions at 31 weeks with my 2nd.. but i carried her to full term... the good news is.. a baby born at 35 weeks ( while not wanted) will most likley come home with you and be just fine.. good luck
IEHP is a local medical insurance company. They are the company (along with Melina) that Medi-cal dumps you off on. Usually they ask you if you want to change (or at least tell you) about a month or so into care but I didn't get any notice and they took 5.5 mos to do it. That's what makes this so tough, I'm so far along now that the change sucks.
My cervix is long and closed, thank goodness, but what worries me is that with my son (at 27wks 5 days) I opened big enough to let him kick his foot out in only 4 hours with no contractions and on pain, only the feeling that I needed to use the restroom.
As for the shots, my doc started me on them to prevent preterm labor and when I researched them at home I found out about the possibility of delivering when they stop. Unfortunately I had already had one and it was too late to wait and see. I wish I had in retrospect. I turn 31 weeks tomorrow and get my third shot, fourth at 32, and fifth at 33. That means I could possibly go at 34 weeks. My doc wants to do an early amnio and schedule the c-section early because I had a t-shaped incision and am not allowed to contract, but we were hoping to get somewhere around 37 weeks at least. Hopefully they will cover the progesterone and I won't have to worry.
Thanks for the pat on the back. This has been hard to go through, but I'm hoping I can put through another request from my main doc stating why this IS medically needed.
