how many times do i need to eat to make sure i get my and  my babys nutrients daily? Do i still need to go for my b12 shots?
can someone give me an idea what they eat on a daily basis who is prego?
I just dont want to stretch out my lil pouch and gain soooo much weight. I am soo scared im going to get really big like i used to.

Yes you still need you b-12 shots. I would even throw in a sublingual a few times a week, to be on the safe side. Also you should get a full lab panel done bi-monthly to avoid any deficincies. A full panel is like 18 tubes of blood, which you should fast and have done in the morning to avoid mi-reads. Good luck!

congrats!.. yes you need your shots.. and you need to eat normally.. 3 times a day plus 2 snacks... make sure you eat carbs also.. ketosis is bad for baby brain... you will gain weight.. take your vitimans as well.. your baby will leach from you and in the end it will be your body that ends up suffering..

I was told by both my Ob and PCP NOT to tkae any B-12...not safe during pregnancy..not sure the exaact reason. I can continue my vit d and on iron and a prenatal. I was put on an 1800 cal diet...LOTS of carbs which is SO hard for me...but yes ketosis is VERY bad for the baby. I am finding that after I eat, even after a little, I am very sick to my stomach and fell huge...I had real issues eating since the bypass 2 years ago so I am sure I am the exception. I would call and make an appointment with a nutrionist..they ahd an emergency one for me the same day the lab work came back postitive. Good luck and keep us updated!!!

I would talk to your surgeon re the OB and PCP (who are not WLS experts) stating that the B12 should be discontinued.  From what I've heard, B12 deficiencies can cause permanent nerve damage to you...and who knows what a deficiency can do for the development of your baby.  They may be looking at it from a non-WLS point of view.

If you're not sure of the reasons they're giving...ASK...don't just take their word for it.  They're human and make mistakes. It's your body...your responsibility to know WHY the drs are telling you what they're telling you.

What?? Are these peole aware that you had RNY and cannot absorb B12 aside from shots or sublinguals? Not through food, and not through any vitamins with B12 in it. Maybe you should find a different Dr?

Congrats on your pregnancy.

I haven't had a successful pregnancy post-WLS...but from what I've read...you need to eat as normal...unless you have a lot of morning sickness.  For the women who have that, they tend to say they need to eat a snack every 2-3 hours to keep it at bay.

Talk to your dr re the B12 injections, but my uneducated guess is that yes, you do need to continue them.

Hopefully someone else will pop in w/info on what to eat.

I'm sure your weight will be fine.

I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Congrats...keep eating like you do add some healthy carbs into your diet as snacks- like milk, fruits...Additionally, I have had two post WLS babies- and my pregnancies were healthy and normal.  I took my regular routine of vits and my b12 shot 1-2 times a month.  Fearing gaining tons of weight is normal-and so is fearing another m/c if you have sufferred one previously.  I never allowed myself to fully enjoy my pregnancies because of my experience with m/c and family history of other complications...but in the end when I was holding my baby everything in he world was perfect- even if I was and continued to retain some weight.  Best of luck on a healthy pregnancy.
