Personally, if it is a 4-D sonogram, I would do it (if the $80 is not a big deal to you). If its a matter of waiting more than 4 weeks, prob worth it if you have the money.
I know one I get preggo. I will be desperate to know and will probably be knocking on their door at 16 weeks lol.

I went to one of those places at 17 weeks with this baby....they told me girl. At my 21 week ultrasound...she is clearly a HE!!!! And every ultrasound since a boy LOL! I would personally wait!

Wow so even at 17 weeks you are not sure if the sex can be determined then? I am having my first Ultrasound at 17 weeks and 2 days....mmmm now im sad cause I may not even know if it is even the sex of the baby.

My Dr said it's most reliable after 20 weeks. Are you having your anatomy scan that early? I would wait until 20 weeks. So they can see the babies organs well.

I have not had an ultrasound yet and yes I am having an anatomy scan at 17 weeks. I have no idea when they usually do another scan but hopefully again soon after.

I was 16 weeks exactly with my second when I found out he was a boy(long story short I had a car accident and they had to do an Ultrasound to make sure he was OK). The parts flashed right across the screen and there was no way I could mistake it! I am having my Anatomy scan done on Friday and I will be exactly 17 weeks. My doctors assured me that the equipment that they use is very high tech and they will be able to tell if the baby cooperates just like in any other case.

You're right Lianne, if they have the right equipment and the right sonographer they can tell with great accuracy. Also if your sonographer is a RDMS sonographer and the most updated and advance equipment out is the GE Voluson 730, which is used in most medically necessary genetic screening scans. The place I'm going to is also The GENETIC SCREENING CENTER who performed work my doctor ordered to help determine down syndrome in the womb. It's imperative that if you want gender determination as accurate as possible go to a place with the right people and equipment, because no matter how far out you are if the screening is only as reliable as the sonographer reading it.
