Gender Determination ultrasounds
There's a place near my home that says they can do an Ultrasound as early as 16 weeks for gender determination. Now that's the earliest I've ever seen. Most places advertise 18-20 weeks. In your experience and or opinion can they really determine with "confidence" as early as 16 weeks? Or should I wait until the standard 18-20 weeks?
They advertsise "If you simply want to determine the gender of your little one and were not able to do so during your 2nd trimester sonogram, than you need not wait any longer! As early as 16 weeks, we can determine gender and send you shopping with confidence."
Any thoughts on the above? Thanks for any feedback you might be able to provide.

I'm having mine at 19 weeks, on my doctor's recommendation. She told me that the best time to tell is between 18-24 weeks because "fewer errors are made" during that time. If you go earlier, sometimes it can be hard to tell. However, it IS possible, and I have known people who have found out as early as 14-15 weeks!

Nothing is 100% until you see it "in the flesh" on the big day!
At least now they have 3D and 4D, so it's not like you're squinting at a fuzzy black and white picture and trying to figure out if what you see is a "hamburger" or a "hot dog!" LOL!!

Skilled ultrasound techs can tell around 14-15 weeks. Some can even take "angle of the nub" guesses at 12-13 weeks with excellent accuracy.
18-20 is what doctors usually suggest since most mother's will opt for the 20 wk anatomy scan and they can easily tell by then as long as the baby cooperates.
We're finding out this Sunday (~16wks). My MiL is an OB and we'll be visiting her on vacation. She offered to do a 3D scan in her office so we can take a peek.

My friend was high risk so she had ultrasounds every week and they kept saying it was a girl. She had "HIM" yes I said him at 29 weeks and was shocked to her Jane Doe was a Jon Doe.
They can NEVER guarantee the sex of a baby unless you do an amnio. Even when they are "sure" there is still room for error.
