For all the oldheads...Cheri update
Here's the nutshell I posted on the Rants and Raves forum...
She spent about 2 years setting up a pretty elaborate plot on the post-op pregnancy board. She was a PA (who had her license yanked for faking prescriptions), and supposedly a post-op, got pregnant...had a little girl, "Grace". Was BFing, yadda yadda yadda....5 kids (I think), blah blah blah, husband deployed...blah blah blah. Found a lump, breast cancer...I think she claimed a double mastectomy. So 'poor Cheri' was blasted with a breast cancer diagnosis with a deployed husband, and her chemo was wearing her out so she couldn't work. Enter the kind people. Sent food, money, baby clothes, etc. She even set up a page on www.caringbridge.com detailing her cancer journey/treatment, etc. Her 'daughter' posted updates.
I believe how it went down was that a member of the board who lived in the same state, not too many miles away, sent her pastor to knock on the door and check on Cheri when he was in the same town. People home, no one would answer the door, or if they did, it all just sounded fishy (I'm kinda fuzzy on that by now). The lady that lived in the same state with her contacted her by phone to set up a meeting in person (Oh, I should mention that this whole time she was WANTED by law enforcement, for taking her kids out of the country or some such nonsense when she didn't even have custody of them). So she meets (but the police were called there and WAITING)...she had duct taped her boobs down (or something), had a fake skull cap to make her look bald, and scars with Halloween makeup...all that jazz. The cops took her in for her past misdeeds, and some folks here pressed charges. Anyone that sent her anything was able to ask for restitution.
That is a condensed version, best I can remember, anyway. I'm sure someone will come along to correct any errors I've likely made...but that's it in a nutshell.
