We have our c-section date
I had my 35 week appt this morning, and I'm disappointed to say I don't get my way. I must be a spoiled person, cause I guess I am used to getting what I want. Originally, my doc said he'd do my c-section at 38 weeks, so the c-section would be 9/21. Today he said that the hospital has cracked down, and unless there is a medical reason, he can't take the baby until I'm 39 weeks. That puts my c-section on 9/28. I REALLY didn't want it to be on the 28th cause that's hubby's birthday. I didn't want them to have to share. When you are little, it means something to have a day all to yourself. I guess it will be fine. Hubby will certainly be fine to take a back seat to our little one, but I was hoping we wouldn't have to worry about it. I guess if she was born on his birthday because I went into labor, I would feel differently. Plus - 1 more week of being pregnant! On the bright side, 4 weeks from tomorrow, I'll have my new baby!
Does it HAVE to be on that date? If you're having a scheduled C-section, why can't they make it for the next day, or a couple days before? Then they won't have the same birthday, at least! My cousin was scheduled and her doctor gave her a week and let her pick the day. Not sure if all doctors are that lenient, but maybe you could ask!

I have to say as a child who shares their birthday with a parent...I was born on my dad's 21st birthday (a month premature and the first grandchild)..I actually love sharing it with him! We both get to tell each other Happy Birthday and it's kind of "our" special day. There's a part of me that's probably jealous that I don't get my own day, but I loved sharing it with him and I think it made it that much more special :)
PS...mine's September 26th :) Best wishes for a wonderful c-section and a speedy recovery!!

Thanks for this! I'm so happy to hear about your experience. The only thing I have to go by is that my little sister's birthday has fallen on Mother's Day twice, and she freaked out she didn't get her "own day". I'm happy to hear that some people like it and think it's special. Your post gives me hope!!
I was thinking the same thing. Does it HAVE to be on that date? I know I am worried about mine having to share a b-day since the hubby's cousin's b-day is 4 days before my due date. Honestly? I would try to get another day. I share a b-day with my grandfather and the only thing that makes it tolerable is that I don't talk to him. (Divorce happens and he didn't stay in touch. I was like 2 when it happened so I didn't have a choice.)
