38+ Week Appointment

OK ladies.....

I had my 38 week appointment yesterday....had to see another dr. because mine was out on vacation.  So far, there is nothing to indicate labor.  No contractions, no dialation.......so he looks at me and asks when am I going to have this kid (If you read my earlier post from yesterday, I am having no tolerance for stupid jokes)

I asked about my BP...it was only slightly elevated and I wasn't swollen that bad.  So then I asked with the diabetes, the high BP, etc would they induce.  He said, by examining me yesterday, he didn't see a reason to.......to ask my normal OB at my appointment next week.

So, back to being in bed and waiting.

Just giving an update.........my OB is back on Monday so I am going to try to see him on Monday and see if the other dr was too lax.

Just keep reminding yourself...you've only got two weeks or so, tops.  You do not have MONTHS left ahead of you.  Just take it one day at a time...and practice your lamaze deep breathing when your patience has run out.  Unless your BP or other health issues get dangerously out of control...I think it's better to let your body do it's thing in good time.

The inductions are not 'easy,' and in my two unsolicited cents opinion, should only be used when absolutely necessary...not just because you're tired, uncomfortable and ready to get it over with already.  They take you straight into hard labor from what I've seen.  I have been with a friend of mine during two of her deliveries, which were induced...and there was no gently contractions leading up to the major ones...she just jumped in with both feet straight into hard labor.  Admittedly that was years ago...and they could have better drugs for inducing now...but I tend to think not.

Just keep saying...'two weeks!  two weeks! two weeks!'

Thanks, Holly....guess I should've said that it is my family and the bf that are truly getting impatient.....they want her here already.  Not that I don't, but I just know that it is better on her and me if she comes when she is ready.

Thanks for the truly supportive post......it does mean a lot!

Well, you never know when it will happen!
probably TMI, but my OB said the best thing he knew of to get things moving was frequent sex. I know you may not feel like it when you're huge and uncomfortable, but it can work. Or, if you don't want to deal with it, try a little "self love." It worked for me, I spent 5 minutes of quality time with myself one morning and my water broke about 4 hours later!
