Yes, you should wait that long.  Your body is not prepared to lose weight rapidly and support a baby at the same time.  Wait until after your surgery, you wont feel normal for a long time.  People do get pregnant earlier, but not on purpose.

Yes, you should wait that long or until your surgeon has cleared you to become pregnant. I got pregnant too early out and I am now dealing with a very nasty vitamin D deficiency and my iron is so low I will have to have a blood transfusion when I give birth, and an iron infusion after I give birth. Wait until your surgeon gives you the okay. Really.

Yes, you should wait that long. Surgeons vary but most advise 12-18 months, some even up to 2 years. This is for several reasons to inlcude allowing you to maximize your weight loss potential, stabilize at a healthy weight, and for your body to adjust. It is a major surgery and major life change. Pregnancy takes a lot out of you. I got pregnant at almost 5 years post op from my RNY and it was still rough. You run the risk of ketosis, anemia, and other deficiencies while pregnant. There are many who did get preggo early out, and went on to have healthy babies, however there are always consequences. Babies can be like little leeches and they will take what they need from you, but at what cost. You then risk having a baby and being in poor health. I would personally not want to risk having surgery to only get pregnant a few months later and wonder if that would jeopardize me, the baby, and most importantly my weight loss surgery potential. It is hard to wait, especially when most of us, myself included, had the surgery to allow us to conceive, but in the long run it is well worth it.
