Working in an office when people are sick?

Hi, everyone!

Well, it was bound  to happen at one time or another!  I work in an office with 20 people, and 4 of them have strep throat/ tonsilitis/ bad coughs.  Thankfully, they've taken time off to recover, but my immune system isn't the greatest and I'm pretty concerned about getting sick when they come back.  (I also think that it's no coincidence that all of the people who are sick have school-aged children who just went back to school this week!  My mom was a teacher and she was ALWAYS sick within a week or two of school starting!)

Anyway, besides washing my hands, keeping them away from my face, using antibacterial sprays on my phone and keyboard, is there anything else I can do to be proactive against getting sick?  I don't want to get into a situation where I catch something and then won't be able to take anything for it.

Thanks! :)

I was pregnant all winter and work with people with horrible habits who are ALWAYS sick. I talked to the OB about it and she told me to stay away as much as possible. I sprayed any "common items" door handles, equipment, bathroom etc with lysol frequently. I also wouldn't let anyone touch my keyboard or use my phone. She also told me to keep well rested and hydrated.

Good luck!

hey girl!! seems like you are doing a good job trying to keep the germs away so you do not get sick. And Liz is right..just make sure anything you touch you use something to protect you! I do not work so I am lucky and do not have to worry about that. I was going to say..if it were me..Idk how other ppl do it but I would consider wearing them medical masks you can buy them at the dollars stores. But then again..it would be hot all the time on ur face and prolly get sick of it. Just try to keep away from them as much as possible. I know when ppl are sick around me I tell them to make sure they wash their hands and not cough on me or sneeze on anything of mine..Some ppl find that rude but hey I tell them well I cannot afford to be sick so please respect my wishes.
