Ruby is 4 months old! - Pics

So like a lot of the new mommies, I hardly ever post anymore.  I do check in every day or two, though.  Our little girl is 4 months old today.  Everyone says "doesn't it fly by?" and I have to be honest... NO.  It's been the hardest 4 months of our lives but I sure wouldn't change it.

Ruby's reflux is still going strong, unfortunately.  We really hoped it would improve when she turned 3 months but it got worse.  The acid part is under control with Prevacid but the spitting up is ridiculous.  She has managed to maintain a normal weight, though.

I was working from home 20 hours a week and working in the office the other 2 days when my husband is home but I just could not make it work so Ruby's in daycare 2 days a week.  The first day I dropped her off I was litterally sobbing by the time I got to my car.  It was the hardest thing I've ever done.  She's adapted really well, though and I feel semi-ok with it.  At least we only have her there 2 days a week.  Most daycare kids are there for 5.  My husband works 4-10 hour days and is off Sunday-Tuesday so he has her Monday & Tuesday, she goes to daycare Wednesday and Thursday and I'm with her Friday and Saturday.  Sunday is the one day we're both off and it's our family day.

Anyway, things are good.  She's right on target with grabbing, rolling, etc.  Here are a few pics.

What a doll! You know Jakob is 4 mos. too and he also has horrible reflux. He has been on Zantac since he was 1 mo. old and I hate it. This week I went to get PT on my back and also started getting some adjustments to it. The doctor said he thinks a few adjustments (not the hard ones they do for us but different ones) could probably alleviate his reflux. We're taking him on Monday. Doc explained that since I had a V-Birth the baby sometimes gets squeezed and the area around the neck/throat gets out of wack and then becomes obstructed easily (upon eating) Anyway, not sure where you live but if you have a Chiropractor you trust, I would bring the subject up with him. I will let you know how Jakob does with it. How much does Ruby weigh now? Jakob is 13 lbs 10 oz.

Funny you should mention the Chiropractor.  Ruby's been going for about six weeks now.  I was really hopeful that it would help with the spitting up but it hasn't so far.  The Chiro I found specializes in children.  We're going to keep up with it for a while.  I don't know if it's going to help but it's certainly not going to hurt her so we might as well try it.

At least the painful acid is under control with Prevacid.  She was on Zantac in the beginning but it stopped working for her and we had to switch.

She weighed just over 14 lbs last time we checked which was a week or so ago.  She has her 4 month appt. Monday so we'll know for sure.

Good luck with the Chiropractor...I hope it works for Jakob!

She is darling!!!  What an adorable smile.  She looks pretty darned happy, despite the reflux problem!

She is pretty happy.  She's what they call a "happy spitter".  Since the acid is under control, the spitting up is not painful...just frustrating for mom and dad.  Thank you and congrats!  Have you felt any movement yet?  If not, it's coming soon.

Yes, I felt the baby for the first time a couple of days ago.  In fact, it was funny... my husband woke me up last night because I was laughing in my sleep.  When I woke up, I realized that the baby had found a "tickle spot" and was up against it.  It was so hilarious!
