Getting Healthy for Baby
Is there anyone else on this forum that is working on losing weight and eating healthier in order to get pregnant? I know its a post-op board, but not everyone is super successful with losing all of their weight with surgery... At least I haven't been!
Add in the PCOS, and its very important that I eat right etc. in order to become pregnant. I am just looking for others like me. I could really use the accountability. Maybe we could check in with each other and keep each other on track?
Thanks!
Nikki

Well I didn't have the surgery to get pregnant but have been trying (well more like not not trying...) for a couple months. My weight loss has been stalled for like 4 months and I'm still about 45lbs from goal and I just can't seem to start loosing again. I have vsg now but started with a lapband in 3/09, had to revise when I had complications from the band. I'm up for someone to check in with and stay on track:)
Hi, Nikki... I have the lap-band, too. I'm still 20 pounds from my optimum goal weight, but decided to start trying because "I would never get pregnant right away"... but I did.
I never was formally diagnosed with PCOS, but I have always had irregular periods. Sometimes, I would only get 4 or 5 a year. I never knew when it was going to show up. Then, after I had my surgery and lost about 70 pounds, my periods started becoming more regular. My cycles were usually between 28-36 days.
It is super important for you to eat right and get moderate activity... not just to become pregnant, but also to reach your ultimate weight loss goal. If you're not seeing progress so far, you've got to consult with your surgeon's office to see what's going on and why you're not seeing results if you're doing everything by the book. You mentioned that you need accountability, so I have a feeling that maybe there are things that you can do to see more progress, am I right?
Have you seen a reproductive endocrinologist? Is your thyroid functioning normally? Are you insulin resistant? There are so many factors involved when it comes to losing weight. It can be frustrating when you give it all you have, and you don't get the results you should.
Keep me posted.

Thanks for the responses. To be totally honest, I have not done my part in making the band work overall. I have learned A LOT through this experience and know that its up to me at this point. Which is why I like the accountability. I'm passively TTC because I know I have a ways to go. I don't want to do fertility treatments unless I know I've done everything I need to do.
The good news is I am making changes and slowly getting there.
I do expect my cycles to regulate with more weightloss. I was a lot more normal when I was thinner. Its a pretty big motivator!
