Friday will be my first appt when they will check my blood sugar with a finger stick. Do I need to do anything special as far as eating, or not eating. Anyone know?

Luckily I talked my doctor into not making me do the glucose test with the drink. I didn't think my RNY stomach would tolerate it.

Thanks in advance.

Well...are they checking at the Doctor's office? If so, that's kinda strange. They gave me the little device and had me check at home an hour after every meal. Maybe you are going in to pick up your device? One reading won't really show them much so I am assuming you'll need to do it at home. They made me do the same thing. I'm glad you're not doing the other test (0:

My doctor just said If I didn't want to do the drinking test, then they'd poke my finger and check my blood sugar at each appointment.

maybe I should call the office and see if they want me to do anything special.

thanks

It depends if it is a fasting blood sugar check. Also, depends what they want to know.  My doctor like a fasting sugar and then sugar results two hours after every meal to make sure my sugar is coming down quickly enough after a meal.
