Birth Story & a Couple Pics (Finally)
Hi All,
I am finally going to give you my birth story. Sorry it's taken me so long, but I know you all understand what it's like to have a new little baby.
I went in to be induced on 7/28 at 730pm. They gave me a cervix ripener around 9pm and another one 4 hours later. I dilated to 3cm with the ripeners so they started pitocin. Everything was going well, but then there was a machine malfunction and they lost a reading on the baby. Not knowing that it was a machine malfunction, everyone rushed in to see what was going on and they broke my water so they could put an internal monitor on the baby. Well, the machines still weren't up so they moved me to the room next door. Of course everything was fine but breaking the water made everything move a little faster and more intense. My doc called in and said I could get my epidural. I still hadn't decided whether I was getting one or not, but since I was having back labor I opted to have it. After I got the epidural (which felt really weird going in but great after it took effect) I went from 4 cm to 10 cm in like an hour. But during that time Lorelai's heart rate kept dropping with every contraction. The doc said it was because the cord was either around her neck or abdomen. I was still at minus 2 station so they started talking about doing a c-section. The doc said we could try to push for a little while but we would really have to think section if her heart rate kept dropping. Well, with the first push she came WAY down. She was out in about 7 or 8 pushes. The doc was leaning back to get scissors to give me an episiotomy and Lorelai came flying out head and shoulders all at once. The cord was around her neck so they wisked her off to make sure she was OK which she was. Then she was in my arms and I was (and still am) completely in love!
She is doing really great. Nursing like a champ (she gained a whole pound in 10 days). She sleeps most nights for about 5 hours, wakes up to nurse and sleeps for another 2-3 hours so Mommy isn't too exhausted. She's alrealdy almost a month old and I can't believe it. Here are a couple pics. There are so many on facebook if you want to see more. Just send me a friend request (name is TinaJosh Levine) and tell me you're from OH and I'll accept your request.
