Opinions wanted on a couple names we have thought of

Ok, my husband and I have come up with two names for our baby girl as of right now.  One is just a name that we have always liked and one has a sentimental reason behind it.  So I want yalls honest opinion about both names.

Abigail Layne is the name we have always liked

Keelie Beth is the name that we found to honor my 29 year old cousin Kelly that past away from breast cancer June 13th, 2010 and left her two babies 6 & 9 years old and husband behind. She battled her breast cancer for 6 years, she was diagnosed right after her last baby was born.

Looking for honest opinions please :)

I love Keelie Beth...I think it's beautiful to remember your cousin. And I think the name is beautiful!
Abigail Layne is cute too! It's a classic name :)

Thank You Jackie, I have always liked Abigail Layne but like you said it is very common and I want something different and that stands out but not too crazy .  Thats why I am becoming very found of Keelie Beth and the honor that Keelie Beth would be giving also means alot to me because my cousin Kelly and I were very close.

Both names are very pretty! When I see Keelie though, on paper, I would pronounce it Key-Lee.

Thanks Ladies for all your opinions!  As for how to say it, you are right it is actually (Key-lee)  We didnt want to go with Kelly like my cousin but something similar and Keelie is something similar but not the same   We still have til December to decide or atleast to our shower to decide so people can do monogramming if they would like.  Hope yall have a great night!  Thanks again

Here's my two cents since you asked for honest opinions...I'm afraid that Keelie would cause her problems the rest of her life because most people would either misprounce it or think it was "Kellie".  Since it's not the same name as your cousin anyways, it's not like she is being named after her - just inspired by her - so in that case, I would go with the name you always liked...Abigail Layne is beautiful, and Abby is such a cute nick name.  Also, I used to work in a gift shop that sold lots of personalized keychains, pens, toothbrushes, license plates - you name it, and I would constantly see the look of sadness and disappointment on the faces of children who would search for their name on an item and wouldn't be able to find it because their name was uncommon.  They always looked so sad and would comment, "Geez - I can never find a gift with my name on it".  So if you went with Abigail - I'm sure you would always been able to find a personalized gift for your child without having to customize it AND it's a name you always loved so don't discount that.  You can honor your cousin another way, but if it were me, I wouldn't change the name/spelling and cause your child a lifetime of frustration because their name is so unique.  Just my two cents.  All the best to you!  Good luck with your decision!

I agree with you totally about the names being "too" different. Before naming a baby, the parents need to consider things like mispronounciation, how the name will look on a college/job application, ect. At my daughters school assembly this year, the principal stumbled over quite a few names and I'm sure these kids were embarrased. Even though all the celebrities seem to be giving their kids crazy names, they will have a swarm of bodyguards around their kids. Schoolyard bullying is a real and dangerous thing so please consider that when naming any baby.
