XPost: Please help...I'm pregnant
I think you will be great...just be diligent about your vitamins and nutrition. I got pregnant a year out, but I still lost weight during pregnancy and am now losing weight after...and I delivered a perfectly healthy baby girl 3 weeks ago. I was 187 when I found out I was pregnant and I'm 162 today (and still losing)...so I honestly don't think pregnancy has to derail you at all if you are careful.

You will be fine...I am almost 2 years out and this was a surprise to me.. I do not eat well at all so I am under very strict diet orders...and don't listen to people if they say negative things to you...I have especially noticed some very opinionated, nasty people on this site related to this subject...I even have people saying to me now, "after all that work..what a shame" I come back with something like "yah and they say I will be healthy since I have to eat the right things..." People can be mean..you will be fine..how far along are you?
It's a girl !! Robyn Marie...!

I haven't seen you post before, but haven't been spending as much time here as I used to so could have missed you. Because I haven't seen any of your posts, I don't know the cir****tances of any replies you received. However, I'm sorry you feel that there are so many nasty people here and that someone apparently made inappropriate comments to you. At two years out, no one should be making any comments about how much work you did to lose the weight only to get pg now The vast majority of us here had the surgery to get pg...so it's illogical to condemn someone else for doing so.
Whatever you experienced in the past...nastiness is not the norm here. The vast majority of the women here are amazing and very supportive...though they will tell it like it is when necessary....and won't sugar coat information to make it more palatable.
Congrats on your pregnancy.

I've been talking to the husband and family all day trying to wrap my head around this...Thanks everyone for the encouraging words.
I am grieving the loss of what I thought was going to be my future...I hope this new chapter ends up being just a nice little diversion.

Congrats. I know you may not be overflowing with happiness right now - and that's understandable given that it was unplanned and not at the optimal time after your WLS.
You and your baby will be fine. You do need to make sure you talk to your OB/GYN and have them keep an eye on your labs, make sure you get all yiour vits (you may have to continually adjust them based on your lab results...and some of the other post-WLS women who've had successful pregnancies can give you advice on what they were told to up on vits)...and most importantly, make sure you're not in ketosis (ie...you need to be eating carbs (not 'simple' ones like candy, but complex ones...whole wheat, rice, beans, fruit...whatever you can get/keep down). Ketosis is bad for the baby's brain development.
I'm sure that you have not derailed your weight loss. It may slow down...but if you're careful and keep active as much as possible...it'll likely either stabilize for now or continue going down and you'll get back on track after the baby's here.
Congrats again. I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
