Implanon Birth Control Implant ???

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Implanon Birth Control Implant. I have read a lot about, but haven't actually talked with anyone who has it. I'm weighing all the Birth Control options for after baby girl gets here. I really don't think I'm ready to commit to a tubal ligation. I seriously considered the Mirena IUD, but I see so many complications associated with it from working in the ER. Thanks in advance for any input !!! 

My knowledge of it is secondhand- I have a really close friend who uses it and loves it. They placed it in her tricep, and it lasts about three years. She loves it, has used it twice now between two of her three children. Not much info I know, but if I needed birth control (we have infertility issues) then it would certainly be a good choice. I'm on my 2nd Mirena and I've never had any trouble with it. Implanon was HORRID. I finally had it pulled after having a period pretty much non-stop for 6 months.
