Does your crib mattress fit snuggly in your crib?
Not to scare anyone, but when my son was 4 months old we had him in our room (thankfully) in his crib. The matress fit pretty snug and it was almost too hard to get the bumper to stay stuck in between the matress sides. Well, one night I woke up to hearing him gasp and lots of squirming about. I got up slowly because I was in a daze still and walked over to his crib to see nothing but his body! He had somehow scooted to the front of the crib and got his head stuck under the crib bumper and between the crib wall. I freaked out of course and took the bumper off of the crib. Then of course I had the problem of making sure he had a soft padding around the crib because he was a scooter and still to this day thrashes his body all around while sleeping (he's 3 years old now). I figured better a bump here and there then to suffocate. So his matresses was too snug. The crib was bought brand new and so was the matress. Just wanted to share my story, not to scare anyone like I said, but to caution also. Also after that I realized how important it ws to my Husband and myself that our babies stayed in our room until they were at an age that they could grasp and or sit up.
