eating

i know we need to eat about the same things, but at this point this is really what i'm having trouble with.  I'm about 6 1/2 weeks along, and all I can keep in me is carbs.  And I feel like i'm eating like crazy.  I'm taking my vitamins and getting lots of water, and my weight is staying the same, or actually decreasing.  but i'm just nervous that i'm not eating right.

How much protein should we get?  more because we're pregnant?

How many calories should we get because of the baby?

Are protein bars and shakes still ok?

Any help would be ok,  my surgeons office isn't really helpful (not answering the phone, ignoring my messages because I have an unpaid balance with them), and my family dr doesn't know too much about this stuff.

Any help would be great!  Thanks so much!

Well..I just went to an "emergency" nutritionist appointment last week since I found out I am preg. adn I do not eat very much. She put me on an 1900 calorie diet and 1 1/2 servings of carbs and 1 serving of protein for breakfast, 2 servings carbs for mid morn. snack, 4 carbs and 3 protein for lunch, 1 1/2 carb for snack, 4 carb and 3 protein for supper and 2 carb adn 1 protein for bedtime snack. One serving of carb is 15grams She told me that shakes and bars are "OK" but it is best to eat real food whan able. It is a total of 80+ grams of protein a day. So I have a yogart for breakfast, peanut butter crackers(6) and cheese or peanut butter for snacks, milk is a good carb too...berries or fruit is a good carb with some cheese for snacks. I am finding it very difficult to eat as I am not used to eating that much. Please feel free to email me and I have a great booklet that I can email some food choices with their values...  was tol by my nutritionist and OB to strive for 1500-1800 calories, 100 grams of carbs and 90 grams of protein. You should also be trying to get in at least 64oz of water but closer to 96oz a day.

Hope that helps! Oh and I had RNY and was 2 1/2 years out when I got pregnant. I lost 15 pounds my 1st tri, gained it back in the 2nd and ended up gaining 26 pounds total. I had an 8 pound baby and was below my pre-preggo weight 2 weeks after she was born

I saw the nutritionist, and her plan for me is similar to the previous posters'.  However, I have had terrible morning sickness and am in "survival mode".  I eat what I can.  I try to drink a protein shake or eat a protein bar every day, but some days I can only eat saltines and applesauce.  I am still managing to maintain my weight, but I'll focus on better nutrition once I can.  Of course, I am also still taking my vitamins.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.
