Husband is afraid pregnancy will undo all my hard work~
OH pals~
My husband is afraid that a pregnancy will undo all my weight loss, hard work and such.
I have tried for several years to have another child before WLS, my first was a mystery...we know I ovulated once in my life; we have a preKer now.
My point to this is: I am 36, will be 37 when I try again for another baby...I am looking for some guidance and first hand knowledge (possible research) to show to my husband it can be done and will not ruin my WLS & hard work!
Thanks
Cheri

My husband and I tried to get pregnant pre-op with no success at all. My issue was complicated by PCOS and other issues. I had my WLS in August 2003 and was at goal by the same time the following year having lost from 291 down to my lowest of 156 and then stabilizing at about 165-170
We tried for a few years thereafter and I finally with the help of a fertility specialist was able to get pregnant in February of 2007. I gained 29 lbs with my son who was delivered at 37 weeks at 6 lbs 7 oz. When I went to my 6 weeks follow up appointment I had lost all the weight gained and then some. My 7 year surgeverssary is coming up this month and my son will be 3 in October. I weigh 172 lbs as of this morning. ( I am 5ft 9) I do workout when I can and watch what I eat but do have fluxuations as most people will. However, I do not think pregnancy had an affect whatsoever on me or my weight loss. I was at a stable weight before getting preggo having waitied the 18 months my surgeon recommended to allow me to maximize my weight loss potential and meet goal and then for my body to adjust. Good Luck in your journey.

I was told pre-op I would never be able to get pregnan pout. Well 2 years post-op and down 150 pounds we were given the OK to TTC. I was 198 pounds when I got pregnant with my daughter. I gained 26 pounds and 2 weeks after she as born I was 186 pounds! I did rebound a little bit and stabilized around 190.
Good luck! You won't ruin your hard work as long as you eat as well as possible while you are preggo and afterwards.
