scared

I am nine weeks pregnant and yesterday experienced some brown spotting. I called my OB and she sent me to the emergency room for testing. They said everything looked fine and I even got to see my child for the first time through a sonogram...and then they sent me home.

However, today I just sat on the toilet and had a decent stream of bright red blood just plop out into the toilet.... The hospital said to only call if I filled up a pad within an hour...and I'm not doing that...but seeing a pool of bright red blood is still terrifying me...and in my head I can't justify not worrying!

It just doesn't seem right to bleed while being pregnant and I am terrified I am going to miscarry!! The hospital said not to call unless there was more blood than I am experiencing and my OB is already gone for the weekend...

So I guess that is why I am coming here...hoping someone will alleviate my fears....

Has anyone had any kind of similar experience and did everything turned out OK???

I had the same thing happen at about 10 weeks. I had a small amount of bleeding and went to the ER, they told me to go home & come back if I soaked a pad in an hour, on the way home I bled through everything. We turned around and went back. They did sonograms and kept me overnight everything still looked good but they saw the blood loss. They put me on bed rest for 2-3 weeks and then it finally stopped. Tests showed things looked good. Anyway, after that incident, I didn't have anymore bleeding issues and Jakob was born 4 weeks early but just fine! If you aren't bleeding heavily enough for them but heavily enough for you, go back to the ER! If this will stop you from sleeping and relaxing I say let them tell you again everything is all right. After all it is your body and your baby and you should feel okay with how things are going.

I had bright red blood about 4 times during my first trimester and it freaked me out every time. They never knew what caused it but everything was fine and I have a happy healthy 7 week old. My doctor told me that about half of women have some kind of bleeding in their first trimester and everything is fine. So I hope that everything is fine with you too. Good luck and keep us posted.

Did they do a vaginal ultrasound on you? That can sometimes cause spotting and bleeding from the cervix that has NOTHING to do with the pregnancy. It can be very normal to have spotting after an exam, and even without one, in the first trimester.

With that said, I know I would be freaking out, and if you are not going to be able to be calm or rested over the weekend because of it then go back to the ER, they can't turn you away and have to treat you!

I had 3 episodes of bright red bleeding during my first trimester. Each time it got worse. The last episode, I bled through a pad, down both legs, & had tons of clots. They did an ultrasound each time & said that the bleeding was coming from my cervix (which remained closed during the bleeding). So, my baby/uterus was not effected at all. They couldn't identify an exact cause & said they probably never would. It definitely scared me each & every time. I had a hard time getting excited about the pregnancy because I kept feeling like something bad was going to happen. I am now almost 24 weeks & things are going great. I'm not gonna say don't worry because I know that is impossible & every woman/pregnancy is different, but I wanted to share my story & wish you the very best : )

When I was 14 weeks pregnant and thinking that I was past the 1st trimester I was driving my daughter home from soccer practice. When suddenly I felt like I had to pee and since I dont like puclic restrooms I tried to wait till we got home. When I got out of the car I felt it running down my leg and my first thought was that i just peed myself. Once inside the bathroom I pulled down my pants and I was covered in blood all the way down to my socks, not to mention my 7 year old was with me. I went home changed home, left her with a sitter and picked up my then husband and went to the ER. I was certain that I was having a miscarriage, but his heart beat was strong and he was just fine. They said that sometimes it happens and there is no explanation.

My son is now almost 4 and keeps me on my toes night and day

Well...the bleeding became considerably worse and I went to the ER...this time all this doctor did was talk about miscarriages and how it wouldn't be my fault, etc. But due to the hope you guys gave me with your responses I had to talk the guy into doing another ultrasound just to see if I still had my baby...and it was still there with a strong heart beat! (I have to admit it really annoyed me that he assumed I had lost it without even checking!). Anyway, I am still on pins and needles with worry but at least there is hope...thanks guys!!!!!
