Gastric Sleeve and Pregnancy
My primary concern is that I am 33 years old and have not had children yet. I do want to be able to have children one day. I have read that sleevers should what 18 to 24 months before pregnancy. I just wonder it is possible to have a healthy baby with eating so few calories.
Is there anyone out there who has successfully had a child after being sleeved?
Thank you.
I have not had a baby since having my VSG almost 2 years ago but I am currently pregnant. 7 weeks!!! I had the same worries and have come to realize that my body makes me eat when it needs to. Before getting pregnant I would have an egg and 2 slices of bacon for breakfast, Turkey and cheese rollups for lunch, and something like grilled chicken and green beans for dinner. About 2 weeks ago I started getting hungry about every 2 hours. I guess the amount I was eating at a meal wasn't enough and my body is making me eat more often. It doesnt help that I started having morning sickness about 2 weeks ago and am nauseous anytime I get empty.
I have talked to my OB and she agrees with me and says that whatever the baby needs it will take from me and my body will respond and let me know. We may be looking at having more vitamin checks in the next few months to make sure my body is keeping up but she does not see any reason why a baby wouldn't be perfect. I did have an ultrasound at 6 weeks and according to the measurments the baby is at the exact size it should be. So that's good.
We had surgery with Dr. Joya in Mexico and signed a letter saying we wouldn't have a baby for 18 months. I did ask him how solid that 18 months was and he said that as long as my weight was at a consistant weight when we were trying to conceive it was up to the OB here as to when we could TTC.
Good Luck
