boy does the first post-partum period suck! just sayin'...

Oh and it finally showed up 10 weeks (to the day) after Amelia was born. Going to call the Dr tomorrow to have my labs drawn again to check my iron and B12 levels.

Happy Monday all

She's a beauty Liz and Congrats. Sorry to hear things suck....and think our men don't have to feel all of this but they're just as responsib;e :) LOL.. Question..did your OB or WLS surgeon order the tests you mentioned. I haven't met with my OB yet or surgeon as I have their appts on the 12th and 20th, but I was just curious who checks your levels, etc.?   Thanks for any info you can possibly shed some light on.

My OB monitored during the pregnancy and in the hospital after delivery. They turned me over to my PCP after my 6 week follow up though. I have all labs sent to my surgeon for review, always have. He calls me if there is ever anything that he doesn't like. I've had so much blood drawn that I pretty much know what the levels should be so I have a good idea what to do to fix them before the Dr calls. I also get copies of all my labs sent to my house.

With my twins my first post-partum period wasn't until they were 11 months old because I was breastfeeding... those were an awesome 11 months of no period.

However the first one was awful. worse.cramps.EVER.

Liz~ That first one is AWFUL!! I thought i was going to bleed to death!! And the CRAMPS omg!! I got mine when Bella started teething at 3 months and hen nothing til she was 6 months and nothing since then. Breastfeeding messes up periods! I bled for about 1.5-2 weeks with the first one. Good Luck!!

Great, something to look forward too. I don't remember my first period being bad with my first baby, but I started taking birth control pills then before I even got a period so I'm sure that had an effect on it. This time I don't know what to expect at all, I'm breastfeeding a little so I don't have a clue when I'll be getting it.

Liz, nice to hear I am not the only one going through the yuckie period.  I am pumping, but wasn't lucky enough to hold it off...  but my first one was bad, but only last the normal three days, but much heavier than I thought.  Second one actually came like clock work at 30 days on the nose.  That is a nice sign in that I didn't have to use meds this time to have one...so can't really complain.  Hope all else is well.  Stacey
