Post partum weight loss and BF question
Well, I gained about 25 lbs. during my pregnancy. I'm 6 days post partum and I just hit my pre-pregnancy weight TODAY!!! How in the world did that happen?? lol I even had a lot of swelling from my c-section and lost all that weight too. I know I'm breastfeeding and all and that helps you lose the weight, but my Lord.....in 6 short days? I think that's a record or something. lol (for me anyways!) Anyway, just wanted to share that bit of happy (SHOCKED, more like it) news with ya'll. I'm just really amazed.
Now to my breastfeeding question......In the hospital, Kenzie had initially (and still does sometimes) had a shallow suck. She wouldn't open her mouth wide enough and since sometimes she had that shallow suck, she put some scabs on me. I pulled her off the breast of course everytime she didn't latch deep enough, but she did it enough times in the first couple of days that I still got the sores.
Now of course I can't just stop BF-ing on one side to let it heal or anything. And I'm using the Lansinoh after every feeding and they aren't going away. I would like for my whole nipple to be open so that the milk can flow through the whole thing unimpeded (and so I don't get clogged and end up with mastitis!), but I just don't know of anything else to try that will get rid of the sores. I rub expressed milk on them as well and that wasn't doing anything that the Lanisoh wasn't.....so I'm just stumped. I make sure she has a proper latch each and every time now, but I need a solution.
Did any of you experience this and how did you get them to go away....preferrably quickly....lol Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Allie,
I had the same thing while still in the hospital, so I had a lactation consultant come in. She had me get a better latch (which it sounds like you've already done) and then just nurse through it. It took a day or so of not wincing every time I put her to nurse, but it did stop. I just did the Lansinoh cream while not patiently waiting for the sores to not be so sore.
