GAS problems?

LOL What a topic! I was wondering if anyone else experienced extreme gas problems while pregnant? I'm not sure how far along I am, but I am in the first trimester. I'm uncomfortable just about ALL day...especially when it's time to go to sleep at night. My hubby is such a good guy- he helps me and massages my belly (right above my belly button) and sometimes it seems to ease the discomfort. It doesn't change either regardless of the foods I eat or the liquids I drink. I hhave read that gas and bloating in pregnancy go hand in hand, but this is awful! I was wondering if it's because of the gastric bypass that it's so bad? Also, is there anything we can take to try to ease the discomfort? I wouldn't say it's painful, but I'm not getting a lot of sleep at night because of it and I find that the only comfortable way to lay is on my left side during the day.

Thanks everyone!

I had extreme gas my entire pregnancy :(  I literally lived on gas-x (had no choice but to take it...felt like I would explode or die from the pain).  The only thing that helped beside the gas-x was lying on my side..it would help it a little.  I definitely contribute it to the surgery...I've had three other pregnancies and never had this issue before.

Hope you feel better :(

Hey Kerri!! guess what me too being gassy and bloated...wow was so bad for me too..I finally figured out what was making me gassy and bloated ...WATER!!! I do not drink water anymore and just juicy juice all day long and amazingly....I do not feel bloated and gassy as much as I was before. And amazingly...my nausea has went way down since I got rid of just plain water. I cannot say not having water is the best thing however it beats being bloated and gassy all day long to the point I do not want to eat. I had it really bad..and could not hardly eat because of being bloated. I stopped drinking water one day and was just drinking juicy juice cause water made me sick everytime I drank it..Id start gaggin and puke it back up..but kept on drinking it cause I figured well thats just morning sickness for ya. I was in such relief when I decided to not drink water one day and just drink juice....LOVE IT!...I drink the no sugar added juicy juice all day long and I have my own body back!!! I can eat better now cause Im not so darn bloated. Not sure if water is your case. I still have gassy issues with some stuff I eat...but I don't feel bloated anymore.

Hey Dee! Well, I know were supposed to, but right now I just can't really stand water. I've been drinking a lot of the gatorade G2 stuff that's lower calorie and sugar. I just got back from the store and bought some Gas-X chewables, so hopefully this will help even to subside it just a little. I've tried some juices, but the Juicy Juice is still just too sweet for me. I sometimes sip ginger ale for the slight tummy ache I get, but other than that I'm trying to push through it.

Hopefully the GasX helps! :)

I hear ya on not being able to stand water..well I was drinking ginger ale for a bit too..until I kept staying gassy with the carbonation. So juicy juice is great for me and not so sweet for me LOL> Works wonders. And I know water is good for you as they say..but your body does different things when your pregnant and wants different things..so what I think is give myself what my body is wanting and liking for the time being. Id rather not be sick. I am sure we are trying to be more healthier than some other pregnant women out there who do not have or follow a healthy diet nor do they care what they are doing while pregnant either. I just think of those women who still end up having babies while not taking care of their bodies at all and here we are doing whatever possible to do the right things.
