When did you start buying for the baby?
I love the Carters Outlet too!!! OMG, they have the best and softest baby clothes ever. With my first born Tyler that's all that he wore was Carters brand. I found that Carters clothes stayed soft and was the best overall. Chelle, truth be told I bought baby stuff before having Tyler as we struggles for years to conceive, but my hope and faith in the fact that I was going to get preggo was not in vein. Keep buying girlfriend cause I know you'll be having yours too ;)

I have not started buying for the baby yet... I am going to wait til I can find out the sex of the baby...and then buy a few things like something for the baby to sleep in and a car seat. Then I am going to wait until after a baby shower to buy the rest of things. The only reason is because everyone in my family wants to buy things for the baby and I do not want to be overload full of stuff and double stuff. So I am literally just getting what the baby needs in order to bring baby home a sleeper and a car seat..everything else I will end up getting at a baby shower. No need to go overboard with the buying. I have heard many times to wait until after your baby shower to really start getting things that you may not have gotten at the shower.
You're so right Dee, but I can't help it!!! .When I see baby bottles and cute blankets, etc. I just can't help myself and fall apart. Even though it's my second child it's just as exciting as my first. I'm trying to hold out to find out the sex, but it's just soooooooooo hard :). I just stay on babiesrus.com, potterybarnkids.com and rosenberryrooms.com and just dream of the day I'll meet this little one.

Yep, Carters and Osh Kosh overalls were a fave of mine (those overalls...you can boil them and beat em against a brick wall and they hold up strong lol). And I find Pottery Barn a little expensive but I am SO getting one of those little anywhere chairs, they are the cutest things!
Hey, it's good to plan ahead...even better when its on sale!

I'm not pregnant yet and really have to watch myself... otherwise I would be buying baby things already! When I got married, I started buying things for the wedding before the date was even set! We had to pay for the majority of the wedding ourselves and even though we had a small, inexpensive wedding by today's standards, there were still a ton of things we had to buy! Like the stationary for printing our invites, centerpieces, wedding party gifts etc. It made it really fun because I got to spend a lot of time looking around for things and shopping for clearance items. It also helped spread out the cost and we saved money because of the clearance items we found. I guess the downside was we did buy things we didn't end up needing/using at the wedding.
I've been looking at nursery bedding for a long time, just to see whats out there and what I like... well I went to BabiesRus with my sister a few months ago and found a comforter set on half off clearance that was exactly what I wanted and nothing like I had seen anywhere! I knew I would regret it if I didn't buy it... so I did :) It is gender neutral. I figure if I change my mind I can sell it on craigslist and get back at least what I paid for it!
For the everything else I am planning to wait until I am actually pregnant and after any baby showers :)

I am one of those people who doesnt believe in wives tales. So I started buying when we learned of our pregnancy. The way I saw it, if I miscarried, it wasnt in God's plan for me....(god bless those who have been through that I cant imagine).
I knew I wouldnt have "big" baby showers, or have anyone to rely on to purchase baby items...so I set up a plan and a budget, and got to work so to speak. Word of advice....BUY DIAPERS!!! AND WIPES!! People are gonna tell you...."you'll get those at your shower..dont worry about them" TOTAL BS! I did just that, I got pretty much everything except the "cute" stuff that people like to get (bathrobe, clothes, socks, sleepers, bottles...etc) guess how many packs of diapers i got from shower??? yup......NONE!! Wait, i take that back i did get a pack!!
my daughter is 4 weeks old and our last purchase was this week on the stroller. I did freak out a little after the "no diaper" incedent and literally STOCK up on diapers...I have an entire closet shelf FULL I started with 2 pks newborn, 10 pks size 1, 10 packs size 2 and 5 size 3. (Including a box of the cute little jean huggies!) So thats why we were behind on getting the big items.
My advice, buy what you want when you want....its so much fun!! DONT RELY ON ANYONE TO GET ANYTHING ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN!!

I've been buying things since before we started TTC... But I'm thrifty and only buy things that are super cheap with sales, and coupons (like deals on diapers, wipes) and we've also bought clothes since we're big garage sale shoppers. I love getting super cute things that we can get for next to nothing. We've just put them aside for now.. Most of it started 2 + years ago when my step sister was having a baby and needed clothes, we got a bunch to help her out, and kept what she chose not to take... I'm not buying anything major though (crib, stroller, etc). I guess I choose not to buy into the old wives tale ;) And it's too long til the end of my 1st trimester and i'm impatient LOL
Oh, and since this is a 2nd child for me as well, I am not expecting a baby shower. It'll be a 1st for DH tho I'm thinking his parents might want to help out with the more major things anyway..
