the "old ones 40 & older lol " ttc & taking Femara

I just say old ones cause I am so old.  lol...  43...I would love responses from anyone that maybe has had these problems on Femara.  ok so I am just CD10 taking 5 mg of Femara days 5-9 and I pretty much have yet to stop bleeding. I quit around Sat night and brown spotted Sun, Monday and yesterday and today have had bright red breakthrough bleeding. Anyone else ever had this. I truly think my cycles are so wackado that I am menapuasing would make since ...since I am old. lol  I started the Femara 2 months ago and each cycle I am having a 21 day cycle.  1st cycle I took 2.5 mg days 3-7, 2nd cycle I took 2.5mg days 5-9 both times started af day 21.  This round I am taking 5 mg days 5-9 and pretty much have not stopped bleeding.  Well I had a regular 5 day (usual) af but have been brown spotting and red breakthough pretty much since I stopped af on Sunday.  Not really enough to wear anything but well u know.  lol  I haven't called dr cause as of this am I am not doing that and I promised this go around I would not stress myself out on this ttc which wel all say but do anyway! lol lol

I just wanted to wish you many blessings and lots of babies (yes, plural) dust.

You are too sweet! Funny you say babies (plural) We were blessed after 10 years of ttc with a beautiful little girl almost 3 years ago.  I figured if we wanted "one" more we better start now since I will be 43 in Dec.  lol  I would LOVE twins! My grandmoterh was a twin and my dh gm was a twin and no one on either sides has had twins "yet" lol We had really hoped that our little girl would have been twins but was just as happy with one.

I'm 37, first pregnancy (and last) for me. I know NOTHING about what you are talking about, but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck. Good idea to not stress. Relax and let what happens happen. GO TWINS!! LOL

Thanks Kina.  I was 39 when I found out I was pg with my first.  I turned 40 when she was 2 months old.  lol lol  Always said "I would NOT be 40 having a baby!"  Well Lord showed me different.  lol lol  I hope you are having a wonderful pg.  I know I did.  Gosh I LOVED being pg.  I also thank the good Lord for allowing me to be an "older" parent.  lol  I love every second of being a mommy as I know you will to!  I wish you the best of luck to.

Welcome to the AMA Club (Advanced Maternal Age Club).  There are a few of us out here...but we're the minority here.  You're still welcome to hop in here with questions and advice for anyone...most everyone appreciates any input and support you can give.

I am 42 (turned 42 in March), so only a few months younger than you.  I have a 15 year old son and have been TTC for the last few years...got pg 4x (3 'natural' and 1 IUI) with four mc.  

I've used Femara a few times - the IUI round was w/Femara - w/o any side effects like the bleeding you're describing.  Ask your dr about it just to make sure everything's OK...or check upon the side effects of the Femara to see if that's a possibility as one of them.

Good luck in your endeavors.  I hope you get at least one...if not the twins you're hoping for.

I am 41 and just on my first round of Femara, Follistim and Ovidrel... we will see how it turns out. I guess we just have relax (I know easier said than done) and follow dr's instructions and pray that He bless us with a baby.

Thanks ladies! I am having my US to check follies today so we shall see how that goes.  To be honest I just feel like they will not have done anything.  I dont know gut feeling...I will not be doing any meds after this.  I gave it the 3 month try and from here on out what happens happens.  I will post update as soon as todays appt is over with.
