Im new and I have a question
Hi my name is apryl I had RNY on december 22nd 2008. I am 9 weeks pregnant due on febuary 22nd. I just wanted to know if it was normal to feel like im eating all the time. i aim for high protein foods as much as possiable but it seems 2 hrs later i need to eat again and its not head hunger. before getting pregnant i could go 4 or more hours without needing food now i cant do that. i just need to know if this is normal even after having rny.
I've always been eating every 2-3 hours, since my surgery. It's been all the time now. I'm always grazing, which is good to get calories in for the pregnancy. With morning sickness, I can't let my stomach get empty or ELSE.
I started at 324lbs and a size 26. After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011. My second daughter was born in September 2013. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs. I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter. The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls. My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.
Apryl,
First CONGRATS!!!!!! I hear you on the hunger thing. I feel hungry like every 1.5 hours..I use to be able to wait about 2-3 hours before I was even hungry for a crumb,,, now I feel like I've been starving after an hour sometimes. This is definitely new for me because I wasn't really good about eating often as I should and could go 4 hours. Now I need food often and quick. I thought I was going crazy and thinking what is wrong with me. You're completely normal and so am I, our bodies are demanding more so we can sustain this life growing inside us. Again, CONGRATS sweetie.

From what I have found on this board this is VERY common! I read somewhere that the hormones in our bodies make us digest food much faster when we are pregnant because our bodies need more for the baby and for ourselves. Give in to your hunger and cravings by choosing healthy options! Cravings are a way for your body to tell you what it is lacking!
