Personal question that I would liked answered.
I normally would not be putting this on the internet but I am curious to know if anyone else has this problem before of course how it goes with pregnancy and delivery. I have HPV-2 (gential Herpes) and I was curious to know if anyone knows if you know you have outbreaks but not a lot and now all of a sudden im having them like crazy now that i am pregnant. I am also wanting to know when it comes to delivery I know if your showing and outbreak they make you have a c-section. However..I have a lot of silent outbreaks cause my husband breaks out sometimes after we have sex and I show no signs of anything. So I shed the virus. I am wondering if I could tell my Ob regardless of what they say...would it be my right to say I want a c-section anyways so I know my baby will not have a chance at getting the virus. I go to see my Ob thursday and this is one of my concerns and I am going to stress that. Just wondering if anyone else out there knows anything about this.
c-section are often done electively, and I am pretty sure that you can opt for an elected or scheduled c-section, talk to your PCP ahead of time and discuss your birth plan

I also have HPV... but I have never had an outbreak (knock on wood). I read in a medical publication that something like 60% of people have some strain of HPV but never know it because they never have any symptoms!
I mentioned it to my OB and she was not concerned. BUT, she did tell me that if I start noticing any flareups to let her know. I guess there is a chance that it could spread to the baby and could cause potential problems, but it is rare. Ok, that makes sense now! You had me confused because HPV and HSV are very different things. You dont really need to worry about the HPV during delivery but the HSV is very contagious during an outbreak and can cause blindness in a newborn in rare cases.
