My birth story, with pics!! Looong lol :)
Im sorry I havent had a chance to get up here to tell
everyone about the day Sophia was born. I had really
forgotten just how busy you get with a newborn!! Thank
you all for your well wishes and support, and all the
congratulations.
We went in Friday morning the 23rd for our induction. I
was GBS positive so they decided to give me a full dose
of antibiotics before the pitocin as I was allready dialated
to 4cm and contracting irregularly. You get to stay in
on room the entire stay, so we had time to unpack and walk
around the l&D floor, and stare at all the babies in the nursery
lol. They finally started the pitocin at 12:15, and by 1
I was 5cm and having HORRIBLE back labor. Those of you
mamas who have suffered with this, I NEVER knew just how
bad it is. They wanted to break my water, but since I
usually dialate really fast once they do I requested
my epidural.
I forgot just how uncomfortable it is to have
one placed, and all of a sudden I felt really sick. The
dr was taping the epidural nto place and I remember feeling
nauseous, and when I told him that I heard, 'check her bp'
and then all hell broke loose. It felt like I passed out,
but I could hear everyone around me, the dr's voice full
of panic, they threw me flat on my back and started literally
pumping fluid into me. (I didnt see all this, I couldnt even open
my eyes. My husband said they put a blood pressure cup
around the iv fluid and pumped it into me. They gave me 6
bags of fluid over 20 minutes.) They stopped the pitocin
and had to push me full of epinephrin. Apparently at one
point my bp dropped to 50/40. It was the strangest,
scariest 2 hours of my life. It probably worse for my hubby.
After the fact he told me he really thought I was going to
die with the way everything went down. I just hope to never
have to experience something like that again. Not having
control over your body really sucks.
Around 330 I was finally feeling coherant, and able to talk
and felt like starting labor again. They started the pitocin
back up and checked me and I was at a 7. They broke my water
at 4 and within 10 minutes I felt pressure. I was almost
embarassed to call the nurse back in as she had just checked
me, but my hubby insisted, and sure enough I was complete.
The only problem with that? There was one dr there, and 2
other women who were ALSO complete and ready to pu****he
dr came in and asked me if I had the urge to push, and I didnt
yet, so he said he was going to run next door and deliver another
and be right back. Well the nurse decided to do some practice
pushes, and after 2 my husband said he could see her head, and the
nurse told me to stop pushing. She paged for the dr immediatly and he
rushed in and her head just kinda started sliding out without me
pushing. He couldnt find his gloves and he yelles at the nurse and I was
just trying to hold the baby in at that point. He told me to push and and
then told me to stop because the cord was wrapped around her neck. One more
push and Sophia Brianne was born at 4:47pm.
Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
Changed for good
