Well ladies - those of you that wanted to participate - I will not be able to join you.  My husband feels that since I am still breast feeding it is not wise of me to reduce my calorie intake until Claudia is no longer needing me for nutrition. ( after thinking things through it makes sense)

I tried to make myself think that I could get so many calories from the protein shakes...and while I would more than likely be ok, I dont want to risk her not getting something she needs.

However!!!  I am going to post daily to see how all you other ladies are doing and offer any support.  I have done the 5DPT and its NOT an easy task!!

Good luck, I will check on yall tomorrow.  Please post your intake!! Any any feelings your having during the first day...I promise the first day is the worst!! (YOU CAN MAKE IT!!  FIND THAT WILL POWER)

I forgot you are so recently postpartum...I am barely nursing these days, so I did start the 5DPT this morning. I made a bunch of protein shakes last night and froze them. Also made some ham and cheese soup. We leave for vacation next week, so this is the perfect time for me to do a reset to maybe help curb the tendency to overeat on vacation. This is probably my 3rd time doing the reset in 6 years.

Good luck ladies! We can do it!

I hope you don't mind if I put in my 2 cents here. I began to diet and exercise when my youngest was 13 months old. He was exclusively breast fed but at 13 months eating quite a bit of regular food so I didn't care if I lost my milk at that point. I was able to lose 75 pounds and still nurse just by eating the right number of calories, drinking 120oz or more of water/tea, and walk 30 minutes a day at first, over an hour a day eventually.

It is my understanding that the 5DPT does put you into ketosis and they would be secreted in your milk. Since this isn't something you want to do why don't you try limiting your calories to what they recommend for new nursing mothers and that is 1800 a day. She will get plenty of milk as long as you keep up the fluids. With low calorie options you will be eating a lot of food and still losing weight. I hope you are able to lose the weight you want. Good luck.

I am going to nurse as long as my daughter will take it.  She is actually pretty fond of the boob milk as to formula...so....

I dont think I even get 1800 calories now (unless i eat a moon pie or two...tisk tisk I know!)

Way to go on your 5DPT start!!  I hope you are successful!
