Really Nervous now about my pregnancy..
Ok I just received a call from my OB office and my blood work came back and they of course want me to go see an Endocrinologist due to the fact of my thyroid being overactive. Which is not good being pregnant I guess. Has anyone else had this issue and made it through the whole nine months? I am currently taking a medicine for it and they upped my dose from 50mcg to 75mcg. I did not read about the hyperthyrodism before when my reg. dr gave me meds for it. And now my Ob is very concerned and wants me to see the Endo. I am freaking out here. I read all about it now and so much bad things can happy to this pregnancy. I am so upset right now I have no idea what to think.
My dr just said that it meant my thyroid was just overactive not breaking down food very good. So i took his word for it and did not bother to look it up and he gave me meds. Now when i tell my Ob about it and I have not even had my first visit with her..however I had an assessment done with the nurse and blood work...she decides to call me all concerned asking me who my Endocrinologist is?? im like I do not have one cause my reg dr did not recommend it. So i decide to look it up and see what it has to do with pregnancy...and well lets just say if its not monitor correctly I could have a miscarriage..Nice...something I am not looking forward to. I have had two already in the past before my surgery. Was hoping and praying nothing would be bad after surgery and well I guess God has to make things difficult for me.
Hi. Sorry, have no advice. Just wanted to say "chill" (pot calling the kettle black) and take one day at a time. Knowledge is power so find out as much as you can for your own health and that of your baby. You don't want to cause anymore stress to yourself or baby unintentionally. I don't want you to think I take your situation lightly, as I do not!, but I do understand the importance of living in the moment and enjoying that TODAY you are pregnant. Good luck Dee. Please keep us posted.

I have an under active thyroid. My doc closely monitored my TSH levels and we had to adjust my Levothyroxin a couple of times. Ryan was born healthy. Like others said, take a breath and try not to stress. That may be worse for you and your baby. Seeing a specialist sounds like a good idea. They can keep a much closer eye on you and make sure you are under the best of care. There are tons of other women with over and under active thyroids out there that have uneventful pregnancies and healthy babies
