we are dealing with IUGR too, baby has been measuring below the 10th percentile since 34 weeks (most recently below the 5th %) At first my Dr told me he would induce at 37 weeks but when my fluid measured very well and because she was passing her nst's and dopplers he decided to let me go to 38 weeks.
We were also assured that it was nothing i was doing or wasn't doing and that it had nothing to do with wls, it is a placenta issue.
I am scheduled to be induced this Thursday morning, and because i was only 1 cm dilated i have to actually check in tomorrow evening (6pm pacific time) to have cervadil(sp!?) inserted overnight to help ripen my cervix for the actual induction! Hoping it helps but I'm told that the induction can take all of Thursday and that i shouldn't be surprised if i don't deliver until Friday! geez lol

Anyway there really isn't much for u to worry about at this point, like they said just keep up with the kick counts and don't hesitate to head to l&d if you're worried at all! with IUGR, everything I've heard and read has said that babies just need to get out and that they do so well once delivered!

Good luck and keep us posted! =)

Thanks for telling me about your little one and your experience. Geesh, this is our 5th baby and I've never had to deal with a growth problem with one of our babies....it's totally scary. Mostly because it came on so suddenly! She'd been growing REALLY well there for so long and was in the 98th percentile just 4 weeks ago. It's such a shock to the system how fast things change.

Have they given you any estimates on how much your little one would weigh? At least you got to keep the baby in there another week without incident. They scheduled my c-section today...and I'm REALLY glad I don't have to go through some long induction. Not fun in my book! I feel bad for you!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you though.

Now I'm going to go get my butt to bed because my belly is REALLY hurting. I think I got proded too hard by all the ultrasound I got today and the nurse trying to keep Kenzie's heartrate tracking on the non-stress test! lol She hates anything that constricts her in any way......even when my underwear is a tad tight! LOL Maybe she's already a diva.....doing things HER way...he he Funny girl we have!

I had IUGR with my son, he's 9 now and you would never know anything was ever wrong.  The doc said it would take him 5-6 years to catch up size wise with his age group but that he would be perfectly normal.  Now telling me that I had IUGR was a bad idea for the ultrasound tech, I heard the word retardation and flipped out.  I practically  beat the door down to the doc's office since they were closed but still there.  I was crying and my blood pressure was threw the roof, because she didn't explain the it simply ment that my baby had stopped growing and wouldn't be gaining any more weight.

Good luck with everything.

Both my boys had IUGR. My 6 year old was born at 37 weeks and weighed 4lbs 11oz. He came right  home with me 3 days later and was fine. No problems. My 2nd son was born at 34 weeks and was 3lbs 4oz. He stayed in the NICU for 10 days but he had NO problems, besides being small...he was the smallest baby in the NICU, and the first to go home. He had no health problems and he was breathing on his own and nursing. I have pics of him where he looked like a peanut in his car seat, he was so tiny (car seats start out at 5lbs, so it was really crazy). But he came right home with me and had no problems. He was small, by a year old he was wearing 6 months clothes, and now at 3 he is still in 18-24 months clothes, he is much shorter than his older brother, but he is happy and healthy! No problems. I am pregnant with # 3 and I expect the same to happen... both my boys stopped growing around 5/6 months. By 6 months, my first son was estimated at 3lbs, by 37 weeks he was still only 4lbs. But they are healthy, active boys now. Ages 6 and 3.
