Need prayers for our little peanut....she's coming EARLY

And I do mean LITTLE peanut!

Apparently Kenzie has decided that she wants to be a teeny tiny princess. About 4 weeks ago, Kenzie was like in the 98th% for size. Then 2 weeks ago she was like the 43rd%. Well, today at the maternal fetal Dr. she was measured and she is now in the 8th%. According to my OB who I also saw today, her placenta isn't functioning very well...not getting enough nutrients to her. (I'm apparently gaining weight just fine now..up about 23 pounds for the whole pregnancy, but she's not, which makes it definitely a placenta issue and NOT an issue with how much I am or am not eating.) My maternal fetal Dr. immediately did a non-stress test, which I'd NEVER had before and this is my 5th baby. She did pass that thank God. If she hadn't, we would've been delivering her TODAY.

So my maternal fetal Dr. called my OB and printed out my report for my OB as well and sent me over to his office with it since my appt. there was right after my appt. with her. They both agreed that we needed to deliver Kenzie at 37 weeks. I'm to have one non-stress test next Tuesday and everyday I'm supposed to do kick counts for 2 hours and make sure she kicks at least 10 times during that 2 hour period. If she doesn't, I'm to go to L&D to have her monitored. My activity has also been halted so I basically get to do nothing all day.

Judging from her growth this past month, it looks as if Kenzie will be anywhere from 5 lbs. even to MAYBE 6 pounds if she REALLY packed on A LOT of weight in the next 13 days. The past month she's only gained 9oz. Even if she gained 9oz. in the next 13 days, she'd only weigh 5lbs. 3oz. at birth.

I'm obviously VERY concerned. I've NEVER had to deal with anything like this with any of my babies. Daddy is very shaken up too, I can tell. I had to go by myself today because 2 of our kids had appointments that he had to take them too and we're not allowed to bring kids to the maternal fetal Dr. appt. (office rules). SO, I kind of had to deal with this all by myself and that was REALLY hard. I wanted to cry and scream and didn't really want to pay much attention to the road. But, I focused, paid attention and did the only thing I knew to do.....prayed HARD....then turned up the radio and sang all the way home!

We just want her to be ok and healthy and I REALLY wanted to carry her all the way to 39 weeks. But, whatever is in her best interest is all we want. So, she is due to come via c-section on July 26th at 5:00pm.

Also, does ANYONE have any kind of experience with IUGR (intrauterine growth retardation, which is what they diagnosed Kenzie with) and could you please tell me about it? It would really help ease my mind. Thank you all!

I had IUGR with both Bailey and now with Carter. I have had non stress tests since 32 weeks with both. Honestly Bailey was induced at 38 weeks, and she is now a MOOSE! Since both my kiddos have turned out fine and Carter continues to pass his twice weekly NSTs My Doc is letting me go, but I do expect him to be small. At my 37 week ultrasound he was measuring just at 34... so we'll see how big he is, they are thinking between 5-6 lbs. I hardly look pregnant at all, especially now that he has dropped. Crazy. I never thought that my hubby and I  (neither of us small people) would have small babies! My kids are fine. They have never lost and ounce since they were born and are now both in the 98th percentile for all 3 categories!!! :)

Thanks for telling me your story Dawn! Are they just going to let you go to term with him? You're getting so close! I just never ever thought something like this would happen. Hubby and I are tall, but both about 205 (when I'm not pregnant! lol) He's 6'1" and I'm 6 foot even so "small baby" has never been in my vocabulary! lol Maybe she's just gonna be long and skinny. At any rate......we just want her to be healthy most of all. I know she'll do better on the outside, but almost makes me wish they'd get her out of there NOW since her growth percentile keeps going down so drastically every visit. Geesh....I hate stress!

My friend had a premie at 34 weeks, and he was 3 pounds 3 oz.  He had to stay in the NICU for a couple of weeks, but he's 2 years old now and HUGE and healthy as a horse.  It's never easy when it's your own kid... but I'm sure she'll be in good hands.

Thanks for the story Mandy! Thankfully I'm not having her extremely early or she'd be even smaller. I'm glad they are waiting until at least 37 weeks, but if something goes funky between now and then, they're ready to go ahead and deliver. At least at this point we're on top of the problem. We just want a totally healthy baby girl!

Thanks chica! We are hoping she's a totally healthy little girl! At least by 37 weeks, her lungs will at least be mature by then. Geesh I'm just so nervous!

I have you and your Little One in my prayers!!

To give you some peace of mind...my daughter was born on July 2nd @ 37 weeks, and was having the same issues, she wasnt getting any nutrients from the placenta.  She had only gained 2 ozs in a 2 week period.

She was born 6lbs 6ozs...and unfortunatly she dropped after birth to about 5lbs 4oz, but that was because we are only BF.  As of Monday she was back up to 5lbs 11ozs, and still climbing.

I know God will have his hands wrapped around her and she will be perfect.  Have faith in our father, and you will see.

God Bless....

Thank you for your comforting words and for telling me your experience. I know God is watching out for her and us. It's just when ANYTHING happens with one of our kiddos.....it tears me up so bad. I'm just nervous above anything else. Hopefully she'll do better growing on the outside! We can't wait to see her!
