I was wondering if anyone ever feels hungry and what are your signs? I had surgery a year ago June 17th and I am 6 weeks pregnant and I still do not ever get the hungry feeling. I do eat good and Im still just eating about a cup of food like six times a day. I drink lots more water also. And according to my OB because I am still overweight she does not want me to gain but 18lbs for my whole pregnancy. Except I dont get it LOL cause in my pregnancy step by step book it does say portion control your food but dont diet during pregnancy?? Uumm well I see that most ppl gain weight that is uncontrollable even eating healthy. I am wondering has anyone ever been told to just gain a certain amount and do not go over and have you been able to do that? Plus what are your signs of being extra hungry? I have been getting nausea a lot and shaky legs..is that a sign I need to eat? Even if I just ate an hour before that?

I have been freaking STARVING since the second trimester started.  I have now gained 20 lbs, which is the total of what I was supposed to gain for the whole pregnancy.  Whoops.  I am 26 weeks now, so am trying to cut back a little now ... but this baby girl is killing me.  I haven't been this hungry since I was a pre-op!

Oh Lord! LOL. Yeah see they want you to eat more carbs and that and up your calories so what do they expect is going to happen but gain some weight plus I have heard even with normal healthy food some women still gain more than they want to. I mean do you think that you have gained that much because of over eating or just because thats what your body wants to gain with the pregnancy? Im just believing that sometimes we can not help what we gain through pregnancy. But I am not sure cause though that is just a guess.

I didn't start getting hungry until I was about 14 months post op(pre pregnancy). I am 17 weeks now, and let me tell ya, I know when I am hungry. Holy smokes, some days I am fine, and some days I can eat a truck load of food.
Oh, and I get the shakes when I am too low on calories. I eat something right away (for me a sugar and carb together work great) I can usually trace it back to not eating enough the day before, or too much activity and not enough calories.

Ok..I kinda figured the shakes was meaning that I was hungry. So I do eat when I get them and it has happened a few times so far. Thanks for the comment back..

Hi!  I didn't have RNY but I figured I would weigh in anyway. :)

I don't feel hungry... my stomach never growls, but, I can tell I need to eat because I will either get the shakes or a case of the dizzies.  Even if I just ate an hour or two before!  I only eat about a cup of food at mealtime, but I have been drinking a lot more water (and lemonade... pregnancy craving!) so I wonder if the added liquids are making me hungrier faster.

OOhh okay I am not sure if its the more fluids or not..I get what your saying though. I have only had the shakes a few times and I do eat something right away when I get that feeling. My blood work came back that everything was fine..which is a good thing..because I am anemic and am worried about that. So far I am good with my iron levels and that. I do drink Lots of water..Like 110 ounces a day. My OB wants me to make sure I drink 109 oz. I am doing good with that..sometimes I think its overload of fluids cause I drink other stuff besides the 110oz of water..I know its bad..but Ive been craving SODA..I drink ginger ale and OMG It takes soo good..that helps my nausea feeling that I get..cause if I drink water when I feel nausea I want to gag. I do not get it!!

Wow, that is a TON of water!  I drink about 80oz a day and that seems like a lot!  I've also had an occasional soda... I just leave the bottle open so it loses its fizz, because it's the flavor I crave, not the bubbles.

I think being hungry is just part of being pregnant. :)
