Uterine Fibroids
Hello Everyone
I have been having bad but sometimes bearable pain/cramping for the last two weeks. My first OB/GYN visit isnt scheduled until 7/27. On Wednesday night, my husband and I took a trip to the ER. I had this feeling that something was wrong. They did two ultrasounds. They found that I have a uterine fibroid and a bacterial infection. The baby is ok!!! They have me on an anitbiotic and Tylenol for the pain. My first OB/GYN visit has been moved up Wenesday 7/14. The Tylenol only works for about and hour and then the pain is right back. I hope I dont have to deal with this pain the rest of the pregnancy. I guess I will have to wait until Wednesday. Has anyone else had any experience with uterine fibroids. Its causing my lower back pain as well All that matters to me really is that the baby is ok, however it would be nice to not have this pain. Now the nausea and the headaches have started, I cant deal with all this right now!!

I have had one uterine fibroid - a myoma fibroid - but NOT while pg. They are 'fed' by hormones...so right now, your fibroid(s) are likely having a feast. They can be surgically removed, which is obviously not a good option while pg. I don't know if anything can be done about them while pg. There are different types of fibroids...not always myoma...but I don't know the names of any others. Some are outside the uterus, sort of dangling from the outside into your stomach area; some are in the walls of the uterus (where mine was); and some are dangling inside the uterus. I highly doubt yours are dangling inside or you would not been likely to get pg.
Can you call your OB/GYN and tell them what the ER said and ask to see them sooner than 7/27? Just so you know what the deal is and what can be done (if anything)? Tell them how much pain you're in and that the tylenol isn't helping...see if there's something else that may help for a longer duration.
Good luck.
