7 wks pregnant and 17 mths after surgery NOW WHAT????

iI haven't been on in awhile I just found out I am 7 wks preg. is there something I need to know to have a healthy preg and baby.  and not gain my weight back . anything I should watch for??  any help would be great thanks!!!

My advice is if you've been getting your labs and checking in with ur surgeon get them back on your OB team. I've found that although my OB pracitce says they've dealt with WLS patients before they gave conflicting information they know about the health of a health pregnancy but not necessarily about healthy as it relates to WLS. 

Congrats! It's important for you to talk to your dietician about your diet. Its really important for you to get enough carbs (at least 100 grams a day) to stay out of ketosis. Take prenatals (talk to your doc about how many you should take). As far as keeping the weight off...I am not really sure. I have gained 29 pounds which I don't think is too bad since I am almost to the end of my pregnancy, but if I had not had RNY I would have gained more because I am hungry all the time. So it still really depends on your choices.

We're in the same boat. I too am 17 months out and just found out I am pregnant. We also have the same Gastric Bypass Dr. Have you called their office yet? I was due for a follow up with them as I have a B12 defficiency they've been following and told them I was pregnant. Apparently they like to follow their pregnant patients VERY closely. Every 4 weeks with Judy and 6 weeks for Dr. R. Give them a call if you haven't yet.

Congratulations!! No  I haven't called yet. I was waiting for my appt w/ my ob I too have a b12 deficency I will call first thing in the am .Good Luck and keep me posted
