The other day I was talking to a person I called one of my best friends, and she is 16 weeks pregnant, and we were talking about cravings. Then all a sudden, she said to me. "I can't believe you would put your body through that surgery just to have it all ruined by having another baby"! I was completely shocked that she would even say that to me. I am so sick of people thinking that I should have been fixed when I went in for surgery or something! I have another friend that is truly scared about me, thinking something bad will happen to me because I am pregnant. Then there are the, "are you going to gain all that weight back" people, and the "are you going to have the procedure reversed", like seriously. Don't people know that going through a surgery like that is not for a women who is pregnant!
I am so tired of the misinformed people. I keep trying to tell them that my OB told me that women who have had G/B do better in pregnancy than women who are obese and have not undergone G/B.

Jeez...And it's really hurtful when it comes from someone you consider a good friend. But, unfortunately, our friends can be as ignorant and uninformed as complete strangers.

When some of my family members said some things about  my surgery I lead them to OH's site and some others. I wanted them to read up on it. That seemed to help.

I don't have any advice, just an understanding ear.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

I know what you mean. When I told people at my work (a hospital) that I was pregnant, nearly half of them asked if I had to have my Lap-Band removed. I was truly shocked at the lack of knowledge of my co-workers. Makes me feel smarter than the nurses. (I'm a seceretary.)

yeah so many misinformed people say, are they going to remove it? I always say what? My stomach? These are people that have asked before which procedure I had.
